Original – The North American mushroom species Mycena atkinsoniana grows in leaf litter, often under oaks.

Reason: High resolution; attractive; good EV, as it shows typical habitat, typical growth habit, and the uprooted specimens reveal the characteristic maroon-colored edge of the gills.
