Victoria Day is a public holiday in parts of Scotland, particularly in Edinburgh and Dundee, celebrated on the last Monday before or on 24th May. Schools and many shops are closed on Victoria Day, but it is not a Bank Holiday.
The Victoria Day holiday commemorates Queen Victoria's birthday (Queen Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901), in recognition of the contribution she made to Scottish society.
