新加坡福建話主要是以廈門閩南語做為標準，但比較偏向泉州音，稍微跟台語有點不同。台灣閩南語（台語）則是跟廈門閩南語很相似。我是居住在新加坡的台灣人，所熟悉的是台語。不過，新加坡福建話除了一些詞彙以外，基本上是可以跟台語溝通的。廈門話，台灣話，新加坡福建話都是漳泉混合語，所以不管是用廈門語或台語都是一樣的。 新加坡福建人都可以接受廈門語或台語為所謂的“福建話”(hokkien)-- (Yhjow (talk) 04:00, 5 May 2010 (UTC))
