Speedy deletion nomination of Hykeem Williams edit

Hello Yankees10,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Hykeem Williams for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Hykeem Williams to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Greetings Yankee! So when you moved the page to a draft, you left behind a redirect in the article space, which we don’t allow. Next time, you can use this tool to help. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 10:52, 20 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Actually, Yankees10, I'm hear to drop a note about this draftification. You might look at the page history before you send an article to Draft space. If the creator is a regular content creator or administrator, you might consider dropping a note on their User talk page rather than moving an article to Draft space. I've found that these longstanding editors/admins usually revert a draftication which seems to be a more effective tool for educating new editors who may not know the standards expected for a main space article. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:58, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. I think I'm just done with the drafts anyway. I'll just AFD in the future If I don't believe the article is notable.-- Yankees10 03:52, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced edit at Rhamondre Stevenson edit

As far as I can tell, this edit about Stevenson's birthplace is unsourced. You didn't provide any edit summary, can you please explain why you restored unsourced content to a BLP? ––FormalDude (talk) 03:35, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Because it is not a standard or necessity to have a source in the infobox for birthplace. The source that it's Vegas is also in the infobox already.-- Yankees10 03:42, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I wasn't aware that that source verified it. ––FormalDude (talk) 03:45, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh yes, I know you have. I just wanted to throw this out at you, in case you do receive a link from him, please contact me. Before I revert I'm always checking talk pages to see if I missed something. Going forward, if I don't here from you on this matter, I'll revert. Colin K. was put back as free agent again. Not that my opinion matters a whole lot around here, I agree with the name of the article being Joshua Dobbs. I am a big fan of the Tennessee Volunteers (bless my heart). ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Player and umpire related? edit

I see that you have the most recent edit to Lenny Webster, and from your name I assume you are a baseball fan. I noticed that that article and Charlie Williams (umpire) both claim, without a source, that Williams was Webster's uncle. A quick search did not turn up anything to support that, except for things that are likely copied from Wikipedia. Do you know, or can you find out, whether this is true? I see that an IP added that to both articles on July 13, 2017. If this is not true, then that IP's other edits should be examined very closely. 201.220.112.98 (talk) 03:57, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

If no source can be found than it probably needs to be removed.-- Yankees10 23:07, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please be extremely cautious when interacting with this IP. It is a sockpuppet of the globally banned long term abuser Belteshazzar. (See WP:LTA/BTSZ for details.) Belteshazzar has often tried to trick people into helping him with his edits. I have reverted his edits to that article as part of our blanket reversion policy (and because he makes such a massive mess that nobody has time to look at each individual edit when cleaning up after him). If you think that that edit was good, based on your own analysis, then you are welcome to reinstate it. DanielRigal (talk) 12:29, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disruptive edits edit

The user has been disruptively editing a lot of baseball pages over the last two days, changing awards names and committee names and official voting numbers without explanation. Respectfully, you don't see that as a problem? Omnis Scientia (talk) 17:12, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

They also added voting figures from back when committee-elected voting numbers were not publically revealed and without any source. Omnis Scientia (talk) 17:15, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
While you rolled back some of my edits by that user, you unintentionally added the wrong committee and awards back which I had removed. Not all of his edits were rounding off voting figures and, in fact, he made up voting figures for back when voting figures were not made public for committee elected figures. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:13, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
This is not disruptive editing just because you don't agree with the edits. They are all considered the Veteran's Committee so I don't see an issue with that. I'm indifferent on the HOF vote percentage as Baesball Ref also has the percentages in the same format this user is changing them to.-- Yankees10 18:16, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
They gave no explanation for why they were making these changes and they did it on multiple pages within a day. Fine, they can round off the figure but why change the name of the committee, and why make up figures for BEFORE voting was made public for committee elections?
Also, with Frank Robinson, they removed the distinction between AL and NL MVPs which is a very significant achievement of his; he's the only one (to date) to do so. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:25, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
See my edit summary for Frank Robinson.-- Yankees10 18:29, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also, reporting this user at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents is absurd honestly. You didn't even try to discuss your disagreements with the person and went straight to reporting them just because you disagree with their edits. That's not how Wikipedia works, these edits are in no way vandalism or disruptive.-- Yankees10 18:29, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry you disagree but I don't think it is absurd. They could at least add an edit summary instead of doing whatever they want, whenever they want. And I did message them on their talk page as well and wanted to wait before noticing they added unsourced voting figures in quite a few pages.
I also disagree about the names of the committee. They may be considered Veterans committees but they are not called that any more. There are now four different committees, not one committee, and none of them are called Veterans Committee. So why would I add the wrong name in the HOF election method box? Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:41, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Pleaes read Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers. That user's first edit was in early November. They may not fully understand the importance of edit summaries yet. Look, I've wrongfully also jumped on brand new users as well, but I've never felt the need to report them like this. It's over the top. As far as the actual edits on the HOF committees name, you do make good arguments and I lean more towards your opinion on this.-- Yankees10 18:50, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Very well. I'm sorry. It's been a hard day and I may have acted on my emotions in this case. I also didn't know about the Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers or that they were a VERY newcomer. I'll be more careful in the future. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:58, 16 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

DJ Lagway edit

Hello, Yankees10,

Is there a reason you moved the existing page at this title to Draft space, had the main space redirect page deleted and then recreated the page and creating an article? It seems like a lot of work to go through just to appear to be the article creator. Next time, please just build an article on top of any existing page in main space and don't move pages around. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:42, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

A fellow admin just practically did a similar thing with Preston Mattingly so their name appears as the creator. They rightfully deserve the "credit" for creating the article since they wrote all of it and did a great job. I fail to see the difference between what I and the admin did. This has also happened before with re-directs I've created in the past and i've had zero issue with it.-- Yankees10 20:10, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

An opinion edit

Hello there!

So I nominated an outlier baseball page on Roberto Clemente - Legacy of Roberto Clemente; you can take a look for yourself - for deletion. However, there isn't a lot of input on the Afd except one person. The page was recently created with material lifted from Clemente's Wikiquote page and main article, and is mostly praise or just quotes about people talking about Clemente.

It's an unusual page, to say the least, and no similar page exists like it for any athlete. I believe it violates a few rules about WP:CFORK and definitely violates WP:NPOV. I don't think it adds value or gives information on Clemente. Any relevant information in the page is already explained in great detail on the main article.

I would add that the same user created a list of awards page for Clemente which has speedy deleted by myself since it was just a list what was in the infobox of Clemente's page. This page is basically the same but another user (who is against deletion of anything regardless of what the content is) contested it. So I'd just like you to weigh in. Thank you! Omnis Scientia (talk) 17:26, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

By the way, I decided to create a template on Clemente (Template:Roberto Clemente) as a replacement for this page and the other page AND so all links about Clemente can be easily found. Omnis Scientia (talk) 18:25, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll give it a look when I get a chance. The Roberto Clemente template was a great idea.-- Yankees10 23:27, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Yankees10, hey there. Did you get a chance to look at the AFD? Omnis Scientia (talk) 10:01, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

List of Green Bay Packers starting quarterbacks edit

Thoughts? That table is cool but readers want to know who started each year. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:51, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Instead of "Seasons with the Packers" it should just list the years the player started for the team. Like Template:Green Bay Packers starting quarterback navbox does.-- Yankees10 01:00, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think it should be like all the other ones where we have who started each year. Looks like it was just changed recently without discussion? I went to that page to see who started this year but the info's not there anymore. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:28, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes I agree. It appears Gonzo fan2007 (talk · contribs) made the changes in November with this edit here.-- Yankees10 02:34, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the ping. Honestly I struggled with whether to have total time with the Packers, or just the seasons they started. I'll work to incorporate seasons they started as well. The change to the new format was to more closely match how we typically layout tables on Wiki. Since this is a list of players, the players themselves (not the seasons) should be the primary scope of each row. This provides sortability, the ability to show standard QB stats for each QB and more closely resembles the only source I can find that actually lists starting QBs as a group: [1] [2]. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:16, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Gonzo fan2007: The starters by year table is the most useful part of these lists, in my opinion. A lot of these lists have both the standard by-year table and a summary table like the one you added. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 23:10, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Suffix proliferation edit

How is this still at Steve Smith Sr.? I thought this was moved back years ago but I guess not? It should just be "Steve Smith (wide receiver, born 1979)" His WP:COMMONNAME is not " Steve Smith Sr." It's just Steve Smith. We shouldn't have Sr. there just because he added it to the back of his jersey his last season or so. Having it at Sr. is very misleading to readers. Having the title at Sr. suggests to readers that that is what people actually call him like Ken Griffey Jr or Robert Griffin III. Ronald Jones II should be moved to Ronald Jones (running back) as well. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:52, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't know I kind of disagree. I believe he still goes by Steve Smith Sr. as an analyst on NFL Network. I think Steve Smith Sr. is now his common name. Others may agree with it just being Steve Smith tho.-- Yankees10 07:18, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

No they aren't. They are just a bunch of unsourced arbitrary "records" you've personally deemed notable. Including records that are receptions by a tight end through first "X" games is ridiculous.-- Yankees10 04:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I get not being notable but the tight end position isn't regarded as elite at all and a rookie doing these things, is insane. I believe they should be shown. I get you probably are higher level than me monitoring these pages, but I have put a lot of work into multiple pages and I believe this is one of my best works. I also believe I have put in the most work for the this page. MarqueesCalaway (talk) 04:13, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
It is insane, but that doesn't mean just random unsourced "records" that you've deemed notable should be included. Even tho you've edited this article a good amount too doesn't mean you own it.-- Yankees10 04:15, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • Wow, I haven't been on in a few days, what an honor to come back to. Thank you so much @WikiOriginal-9: for the nomination, I'm truly appreciative.-- Yankees10 18:26, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Never a dull day edit

Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Football_League#Downcasing_Draft In case you're bored and want to play with lower case letters. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:02, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

HEY!! I just saw the message above. CONGRATS!!! Bringingthewood (talk) 00:03, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm, I hadn't realized that conversation was ongoing. I'm kind of indifferent either way lol. I just edited Hunter's because I noticed the Draft was still uppercased. And thank you for the congrats.-- Yankees10 00:30, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome, you deserve it! On a pain in the ass note, I'm tired of going back and forth with petty things. Like you, I see U.S. in my sleep. I won't touch the draft/Draft. If I want pain I'll watch the State of the Union. Have a good week. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:38, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Death of Kenneth Warren Wright Baseball edit

I'm Kenneth Wright's daughter. I'm not sure if you edited his death from Pensacola, FL to Warrington, Florida. My father did pass away in Pensacola, but not directly in the Warrington area of Pensacola. Thank you for adding his record of death. I'm not familiar with Wikipedia, so I am not sure if I understand how the revisions work. If you would like any further information, then feel free to contact me. Thanks again! Lisasetefano (talk) 21:03, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have changed it to Pensacola.-- Yankees10 23:43, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Reverts edit

Hi Yankees10. Could you please start notifying editors when you revert their edits? In case you weren't aware, we have tools such as Twinkle and Ultraviolet that make this easy to accomplish with a single mouse click. Thanks, Fastily 07:31, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Yankees10 deals with trolls and fanboys on a daily basis. Notifying every single person and also sending them talk page messages would just invite endless edit wars. If anyone who knows about Wikipedia guidelines actually care about the articles, they will have them on their watchlists. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 13:09, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh really? Warnings are incredibly useful to admins dealing with abuse. You should never engage in "edit wars" in the first place, noticeboards for requesting admin intervention exist for a good reason. -Fastily 21:37, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're just talking about vandalism right? I don't usually send talk page notices for good faith edits. An edit summary will usually do. Anyway, I'll let Yankees decide what to do. Bye. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 22:08, 14 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Lol, I don't what this weirdo shitheads deal is. I don't know what I did to piss this psycho off but this is like the 10th time they 've done this with numerous different IP's.-- Yankees10 03:43, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
My God, that was awful. Nice to be loved, but that was ridiculous. Thanks for the heads-up regarding your secret admirers. I was planning on an hour of reverts, lol. Bringingthewood (talk) 03:48, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Lol, thank you for the reverts along with @LilianaUwU:. I was away for the computer for a bit and came back to like 50 red alerts haha.-- Yankees10 04:00, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I'm just doing what I can. As for the "why", well, I don't think those people really need a reason to do that. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 04:07, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
No problem at all. In a sick way, I enjoy it ... but only for an hour, lol. @LilianaUwU is super-fast!. I'm screaming, "SLOW DOWN!, MY COMPUTER IS A 2007!" Sorry to say, I don't think that IP is going to forget you anytime soon. Bringingthewood (talk) 04:15, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

When in doubt edit

Hi Y10. We never discussed MLB free agents. What would you do with Mike Miller. Last played in 2016, last transaction news was in 2019. Bringingthewood (talk) 06:32, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yeah it's safe to say he's done. I usually use the two year rule with MLB players as well.-- Yankees10 06:35, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Lol, love the stick a fork in him tone. Okay, sounds good. Thanks! - Bringingthewood (talk) 06:41, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edits summaries edit

According to the consensus policy, all edits should be explained (unless the reason for them is obvious)—either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page. It is a good practice to provide a meaningful summary for every edit, especially when reverting the actions of other editors or deleting existing text. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:B1B2:D097:B1F5:F9D5 (talk) 06:43, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you! edit

  The Original Barnstar
Sometimes I wonder... who did Patrick Mahomes' article? You did. What about Jalen Hurts? You did. Josh Allen? Same. C. J. Stroud? Lamar Jackson? Kyler Murray? Caleb Williams? Trevor Lawrence? It feels like every good athlete has an article written by you! I don't know how you do it. So here's a barnstar! BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:52, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Much appreciated, @BeanieFan11:. I guess you can say I was good at scouting QB's haha. But yeah I had a lot more free time back back in the day then I do now and just got lucky I guess lol.-- Yankees10 22:59, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Jameis Winston edit

Can I get an exact reason for you to roll back all of the changes I made? One of them was for a broken link, "redshirted" hyperlinks to the correct "redshirt" page I linked it to.

Another instance is there's two consecutive sentences that start with "Winston," and there's no reason for it. One can be changed to "he," as I did.

I would think context is also important - I've seen other pages that describe a player tying or breaking a record last held by a player and then naming said player, as I did with mentioning Matthew Stafford.

I understand if not all of my changes were necessary, but they didn't all deserve to get rolled back. What do you classify as a "non upgrade?" ParXivalRPT (talk) 01:54, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Most just seemed like unnecessary minor changes to me that didn't help much. Also too many unnecessary semicolons.-- Yankees10 02:24, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

MLB prospect question edit

Hey Yankees10, I was wondering, since I've seen you create entries at MLB minor league player lists (e.g. New York Yankees minor league players), is there any criteria for who qualifies to have an entry there? (Was thinking about potentially doing an entry on one of those lists; I made it a life goal of mine to start an article on someone who played in each of the four major U.S. sports leagues and I only have MLB left  ) BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:32, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@BeanieFan11: Generally these lists are for players who fall a few references short on passing WP:GNG before they are ready for a stand alone article. While also taking into account prospect status and how likely they are to make the major leagues.-- Yankees10 23:17, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK – thanks. BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:02, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
