House of Commons

Three years ago you assisted with my project to create an Armorial of Speakers of the British House of Commons. Now I'm doing the English house as well. Robin S. Taylor (talk) 13:58, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

1878 Birthday Honours

Hi Wikimandia,

I was looking at the article and notice that London Gazette No. 24327 and 24588 did not mention anything about the appointment of British honours. Could re-verify and furthermore No. 24327 is listed in 1876? Flipchip73 (talk) 03:00, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

William Sloane-Stanley

Hi Wikimandia, hope your ok.

I noticed that in 2019 you made an edit to William Sloane-Stanley which said that his place of death was Paultons Park. This led to the amusement park, and can’t be true as he died in 1860 and Paultons Park opened in 1983.

I’m sure this was an honest mistake that you made three years ago, but I have removed the information for now. Fats40boy11 (talk) 13:35, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi Fats40boy11: Paulton's Park is NOW an amusement park but it was the seat of Sloane-Stanley's family for hundreds of years. If you had read the page on Paulton's Park, where it mentions the Sloane family, or if you had checked the website about the history of the park, you would see how this is accurate.
I'm sure this was an honest mistake on your behalf ;-) but I have added it back and this time have added a citation. МандичкаYO 😜 23:24, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Correction to previous election announcement

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:42, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

The problem: Your signature does not contain a link to your user page, your user talk page, or your contributions page.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Change the signature to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
  3. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.
