Orphaned non-free image (Image:Pixia`s new mascot.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Pixia`s new mascot.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:21, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Voxel World edit

Voxel World, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Voxel World satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Voxel World and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Voxel World during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. OSbornarfcontributionatoration 21:02, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:49, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification edit

Hi. When you recently edited Balkan sprachbund, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Bulgarian and Macedonian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

September 2012 edit

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Untranslatability, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you.  -- WikHead (talk) 02:15, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, thank you, I accidentally deleted portion of that article while I was adding my contribution to it. Thanks for reverting it back to its original state. I can now safely add my contribution without accidentally blanking part of that article. --Ve4ernik (talk) 02:27, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Very well. Without the use of edit summaries, it's often very difficult to determine exactly what's up with edits like that. I would highly recommend their use in all situations to allow other editors to better understand your intentions. Regardless, the glitch has now been resolved and that's all that really matters at the end of the day. Have yourself a great day, and happy editing  !  -- WikHead (talk) 03:56, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again, I'll try to include edit summaries from now on, though it's pointless to do so for edits which just fix typos (which wasn't my contribution to that article which I accidentally partially blanked, I'm just mentioning it because it's kind of pointless to have changed but a minor spelling or punctuation thing and to write an extensive edit summary of it - that's just wasted bandwidth and database space, if you know what I mean). Thank you again, I was wondering how to manually revert my accidentally buggy change, but then you came along and did it for me. I'm usually against deletionism snd revertionism (I'm an inclusionist in terms of Wikipedia editing philosophy), but I see that it is sometimes (though rarely) needed. Again, it's indeed true that what matters is that the problem has been resolved, so there is no point in discussing it further; thanks again for your quick and responsive help. --Ve4ernik (talk) 11:03, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Though I've read similar comments on other talk pages, I'd have to disagree that edit-summaries are not necessary with minor edits. Some may argue that adding a comma (for example) can be achieved with a single key-stroke, so adding a summary that says "Added comma" (11 more key-strokes) is rather pointless. On the other hand, someone reviewing that change may have a difficult time seeing exactly what has changed when viewing the diff... so a summary may actually be more useful in these cases than if the change was clearly obvious. I realise that edit-summaries are not mandatory, but I personally never make an edit that I won't (or can't) describe... even if that description is extremely brief. I believe it's courteous and helpful to the other contributors... and especially useful if something with that edit happens to go wrong and requires further attention. The choice to provide a summary is always your of course, but I'm hoping I've given you something extra to think about  . Cheers!  -- WikHead (talk) 11:54, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
