how to wikilink to policy pages

Hello there. I corrected a wikilink that you made on Hu12's talk page[1] since it was an obvious mistake. For example, the proper way to link to WP:TRUCE is using [[WP:TRUCE]].

(I explain you a bit how this stuff works, since you might need it on the future)

Using {{WP:TRUCE}} causes the whole source code of WP:TRUCE to be included in-line on the place where you are using it (as you can imagine, this causes all sort of problems), and the {{}} thing is also used to invoke templates.

You were using {{Shortcut|WP:TRUCE}} which calls the {{Shortcut}} template with "WP:TRUCE" as the first unnamed parameter ({{Shortcut|1=WP:TRUCE}} makes the same thing. You can use "1=" when the template reads incorrectly the parameter because it uses external links). You were instructing the "Shortcut" template to create a shortcut box that lists WP:TRUCE as a shortcut for the actual page.

This is similar to how {{cite web}} works. {{cite web|url=http://www.example.org}} is calling the "cite web" template giving "http://www.example.org" as a parameter named "url".

If you need to quote an executive from a company, try to use {{quote|1=blahblahblah}} for a nicely formatted paragraph --Enric Naval (talk) 18:19, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Change to "Private Equity secondary market" page

Hi Urbanrenewal, I just wanted to contact you regarding a change I made to the "Private Equity secondary market" page on 6 May which you undid. The change was that I added the firm I work for, Jolimont Capital, to the list of direct secondaries firms in the "Secondary market participants" section.

Firstly apologies if I changed that without the appropriate checks (this is the first time I've edited a page on wikipedia).

We added ourselves as we're the leading (and only) direct secondaries investor in Australia with $110 million under management (in the process of closing our third fund). I added us to the list as our FUM is similar to some other managers included, and because we're keen to build an awareness about secondaries in Australia and the fact that there's an active manager in that space.

Anyway just wanted to clarify why we made the change, and try to understand what your criteria are for getting listed.

Whatever your decision, thanks for maintaining the page and keeping people informed about the secondaries categoriy.

Prod

Hey, the correct format for proposing deletion is {{subst:prod|REASON}}. It automatically inserts the date and time so the admins know when the article can be deleted. Thanks. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:53, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Providence Equity logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Providence Equity logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
