User talk:TheDJ/apipopups.js

Latest comment: 15 years ago by AxelBoldt in topic Comments

This is the talk page for my effort in converting Lupin's Navigation popups to the new api.php interface as opposed to its earlier query.php usage. My version is based on the code that is currently the code for the popups gadget. The primary goal is to make sure popups continues to work in the event that query.php is disabled on WMF servers.

What this page is NOT for:

  • Reporting bugs that were already present in the original version
  • New features that you want in popups
  • Ideas for areas of popups that should be "redesigned"

What this page IS for:

  • reports of significant changes between previews of the original popups and this version
  • reporting success stories

Please accompany these reports with your browser version and OS. That can be a huge help when trying to locate problem areas.

Before I try this out, could you please tell me whether it cures the only significant problem in the Lupin version that affects me: the failure to display footnotes (in Firefox)? Many thanks. --NigelG (or Ndsg) | Talk 09:18, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

It does. This problem is also fixed in the popups version that is currently installed as a gadget btw. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 10:38, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the quick response. I'll try it out. --NigelG (or Ndsg) | Talk 11:50, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
PS Excellent! Much faster than the Lupin version—or so it seems. --NigelG (or Ndsg) | Talk 11:59, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's GREAT! I've tried it out and it works properly. (I'm using Windows Vista and browsing with Firefox 2.0.0.13) I'm also a user in the Chinese Wikipedia, so how can I try this brilliant stuff in other language of Wikipedia? --Quest for Truth (talk) 09:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Will this work on other wikis and if so how would I go about installing it? (I have full admin/dev rights). --kingboyk (talk) 11:00, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Excellent! I tried it out for a day and everything works fine and much faster than before. (Firefox 3.0.1, with wikEd 0.9.64f installed.) Please write up short instructions so that people know how to install it and/or make it available as a gadget. Thanks, AxelBoldt (talk) 14:35, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
