Good work on Bob's article, it was in need of some serious improvement. I just wanted to clarify my edit summary when I removed that note about members of the fake Mac working on Kirwan's solo album. The fake Mac (which evolved into Stretch) was Elmer Gantry, Kirby Gregory, Paul Martinez, John Wilkinson and Craig Collinge. Kirby did work on a Kirwan album, but that was much later, in 1979. Later members of Stretch did work with Kirwan, but none of them was involved with the fake Mac. It's a murky story, and I didn't want you to think I was criticising your work. There are a couple of basic problems that I think you're facing here in the construction of the article. One is that you seem to want to do an article about the scandal, but you are labeling it as an article about a person. There can be articles about events as well, and if there is truly a need for the encyclopedia to cover this concern, it may be better done in those terms.

The other is that, having labeled it as an article about an individual, you are trying to cover two other individuals in it, in about as much depth as the article's supposed subject. If they truly are deserving of coverage as individuals, then it should be in their own articles, rather than using the article on one to be as a platform for the others.

Also, saying someone was a partner with another in a criminal enterprise runs into the same problems as saying they were guilty of a crime, because it basically is. Until they are convicted of a crime, it is not our job to paint them as guilty. --Nat Gertler (talk) 03:40, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Just because Wikipedia has an inflation calculator does not mean that it needs to be used in every situation. It is more appropriate when comparing the price of an apple in 1909 to an equivalent apple today. That would help readers know what the relative cost of an identical item in today's dollars. However, in the case of automobiles, the actual product, its manufacture, and the market conditions were completely different over 100 years ago. It is better to explain know how significant the goal of getting the price of the 1909 Hudson to be under $1,000 in relationship to the cost of other automobiles in 1909 - not what the inflation adjusted value of $1,000 from 1909 is worth today. Therefore, a comparison other automobiles on the market in 1909 would provide context for the conditions during the early era of motoring. The same is true of calculating the cost of the optional automatic transmission during a time when the vast majority of cars offered only a manual transmission. The price information provides information only when compared to other what other transmissions were available at the same time, not to the dollars are worth today. Things have changed so mach that today the automatic is standard equipment, and is is almost difficult to find automobiles with manual transmissions. Another example would be the first Compact Disc audio CD players that in 1982 had a retail price of about $900. It is far more informative to compare that price to the other available methods of sound reproduction at the time. Since 1983, the manufacturing technology, market penetration, profit structure, etc. of the CD player has significantly changed. It appears that you tried to give Johnny Keyes a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Johnnie Keyes. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
