Question from Wonderdog31 (13:32, 8 March 2024) edit

Hi,

I tried creating my own page, I am Luke McGibney an actor and I have been referenced on Wikipedia hence I thought it would be an good idea to create an article about me.

I create a draft but not completed. I press published as i think that saves the draft but does not place it up on Wikipedia.

Sadly, I can't find it?

Can you save your article as you go along? If so how?

Thanks for your time.

Luke --Wonderdog31 (talk) 13:32, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Wonderdog31:, usually if you create a draft it should show up in your Contributions tab, though nothing shows up here for this. You can save the draft in progress as you go along and come back to it. Please note however that per WP:Autobiography it is strongly advised not to create an article about yourself. ser! Hi Ser,
Thanks for getting back to me. How do you save a draft? That's the bit I don't understand?
I'm arising an article because I'm starting to get mentioned due to being in current roles.
I'm only looking to do a basic article unbiased about my career.
Hopefully that will be OK?
Thanks for your time 2A00:23C7:4A14:AC01:2D10:42A:94B:FD88 (talk) 18:24, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
To save a draft when you're working on it, you should press the "Publish changes" button in the editor and it will create or update the draft. I believe the autobiography guidelines apply regarding writing about yourself regardless, but if you want to write one it is recommended on that page that you use the WP:Articles for creation process to allow the article to be reviewed by other editors. Best of luck! ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 18:29, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Hehehdhdhd (09:24, 9 March 2024) edit

Hello dear Ser! Im a relatively new editor, and as you can see on my user page under the "hhhh" that i have tried to make infoboxes, but unfortunately can't. Is there anyway you could provide me with information on how to make them? Thank you! :) --Hehehdhdhd (talk) 09:24, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Hehehdhdhd:, admittedly I'm not the best at creating infoboxes but I would recommend checking the page Help:Infobox for guidance on how to create. In addition, if you create them under a supbage (for example: User:Hehehdhdhd/Infobox name) you can add them to your page with the module {{User:Hehehdhdhd/Infobox name}}. ser! Hi, when my page will get published? --Artistchristelle (talk) 08:11, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Artistchristelle:, judging by the sandbox this appears to be an article about yourself. It is highly recommended not to write articles about yourself; please see WP:COI for more. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 14:55, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

You're still attempting to publish an article about yourself, which is a WP:COI issue. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 09:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from CateMon (16:08, 13 April 2024) edit

Hi Seri, I use Wikipedia, but don't especially want to be an editor, except when I see something really factually wrong. The entry for Tropical Milkweed has a long section saying this plant can hurt monarchs. This is a myth propagated by non-scientists. So here is the science: https://ucanr.edu/blogs/blogcore/postdetail.cfm?postnum=55375 What is the correct process to remove the myth, which is a widely held falsehood, and native plant afficianados may well get their panties in a bunch so I'm less than eager to do the entry. Scientist Art Shapiro, quoted in the article, might do it for you. --CateMon (talk) 16:08, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @CateMon:, if you spot an inaccuracy you are able to remove it from the page. If this removal is challenged, you can discuss it at the Talk page for this article, pinging the user who removed it, and reach a consensus on the content. ser! Ya, I don't want to be an editor. But thanks. Like all online info, I just need to verify Wikipedia more when I use it, but others may not 2600:1012:A01E:4EC5:D07C:B656:5356:97FD (talk) 16:50, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear Rj Miller,

Subject:- Proposal for editing “The AMHARIC language of Wikipedia”.

Dear Sir,

I have seen the AMHARIC language of Wikipedia. It needs more editing and more improvements.

I am professional in Amharic language editing and even creative writing. I have ample experience in this regard.

Therefore, would you kindly accept my proposal to edit the AMHARIC language of Wikipedia?

Sincerely, Abdurahman Ahmedin Wikipedia username: Vyniamirski password: (Redacted)--Vyniamirski (talk) 06:56, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Vyniamirski:, that would likely be a question to ask over at [am.wikipedia.org Amharic Wikipedia], though I believe you can just start editing any time you want to. Also, it is not advisable to post your Wikipedia password in public because others might gain access to your account. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 07:45, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Samprat (21:50, 29 April 2024) edit

Good day, my mentor. I am a registrar at a university, and I am aware that several notable people in my university are not listed and want to assist in listing their biography on Wikipedia. Is there a template that i can adopt for University professor as a guide? --Samprat (talk) 21:50, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Samprat:, to create an article, check out WP:How to create a page and for instructions on the content within, check out Wikipedia:Writing better articles. Just be sure that you have no personal connection to the people you're writing for, as this creates a WP:COI. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 07:44, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from Afiddle (02:40, 8 May 2024) edit

Hi!

I've recently made edits to the page of Mary Beth Goodman, a public figure in a significant international role who's been a part of developments of public interest over the past few years (and notably, months, as she's taken on her newest position). Is there any way for the draft page to move to publication sooner? My understanding was that as someone with an autoconfirmed account (which I thought I had), I would be able to move the article from being a draft to being a published.

Any suggestions you might have would be welcome! --Afiddle (talk) 02:40, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Afiddle: and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. It seems to me from looking at your draft that you're doing everything right so far, especially re giving the WikiProject tags to the talk page. I will say I don't have much experience in the AfC process so my ability to help here is limited, but I would estimate someone will be able to review your draft in good time. ser! Question from Avwislon (05:01, 20 May 2024) edit

Hello! Thanks for being a mentor. I wanted to add an article about the scale model of the Solar System that was installed in Belgium in 2004, but the funding organisation failed to publicise it, so it is little known, which is a shame. So the only source on the internet is from the sculptor himself. Is that a problem for adding a page? I have added info about the model in one line in the page Solar System Model, but I really think it deserves its own page - like the Swedish model. Apparently the funding org (The association MUCO (Belgian Association for the Fight against Cystic Fibrosis)) is going to add something to their website - should I wait for that? --Avwislon (talk) 05:01, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Avwislon:, to create an actual page you would need a lot of independent, significant coverage - I believe most of the solar system models don't have pages so it's possible the Swedish one is a notable outlier! So if you want to create a draft page, feel free to submit it to Articles for Creation where someone can assess it, and use whatever sources you can find - I believe a source from the sculptor himself would be fine. ser! Question from Bathynomus-enthusiast (02:00, 21 May 2024) edit

I'd like to source a paper (Lowry, J. K. and Dempsey, K. (2006). The giant deep-sea scavenger genus Bathynomus in the Indo-West Pacific), and I've seen it cited in another Wikipedia article, but I'm having trouble using the 'automatic' option of the citation tab in the visual editor, as I don't know how to find the reference code for it. Could I have some advice on how to source this paper? --Bathynomus-enthusiast (talk) 02:00, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Bathynomus-enthusiast:, if you've seen the paper used as a reference in another Wikipedia article it's possible to copy and paste it to another tab to use it as a source if you have the source editor open - just change the access date and any other relevant parts that need amending! ser!
