The Optimist's talk page
Welcome to my talk page. For ease of reading, if you leave a message here I'll reply here unless you request otherwise.
If I leave a message on your page I'll be watching it for a few days, unless it's a vandalism or block notice, so feel free to reply there (though feel free to prod me with {{tb}} if I seem to miss it). Please note that I'm based in the UK, so I'm very unlikely to respond between about 00:00 and 06:00 UTC, also I'm usually busy at weekends. Older messages can be found in the archives.

Template:Japanese era

Some years back, you were the last person to successfully adjust the list of eras here, and my recent attempt to make what seemed a simple change resulted in pain from naivete. Would you be able and willing to take a peek and apply some clue to my head? The changes that I made (visible in history) throw an expression error when transcluded indirectly from 1577. The error was something like an operand error, and mentioned "年", which I presume is coming through via Template:Year in other calendars/Japanese. I had assumed that the last table was just a fixup converting article names into display names, but ... is there somewhere else that needs a change at the same time? Did I blow a white space issue? Enquiring minds wanna know.  :) --joe deckertalk to me 21:20, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

I don't see any immediate reason why it shouldn't work - what faults is it giving? If you can't fix it, I suggest trying the Village Pump for advice.  An optimist on the run! 21:33, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you kindly for the check. I just figured it out, I didn't need to know I needed a corresponding change at Template:Nengo. *Forehead* Ah well. Have a great week! --joe deckertalk to me 23:53, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Question about sosick.org

I am doing some research about SARS and found a reference to Wikipedia page about sosick.org. It seems you deleted the page. I am not a wikipedian & do not know the process for this action, nor am I here to criticize.

I wonder how I can learn the reason for the socick.org page's deletion, could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.75.62.40 (talk) 05:06, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

It was deleted as it consisted solely of the line "this is a page which updated the residents in hong kong what was happening. It is a very informative website which was very informative", and was therefore tagged for speedy deletion under criteria A7, as it did not indicate how the subject was important.  An optimist on the run! 05:39, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Fiat Tagliero building / Eritrea

Greetings:

We are interested in your photo of the Fiat Tagliero building to accompany information about gas prices in Eritrea. You had requested that contact be made before we proceeded to do this. If you have other requirements, about crediting or otherwise, please let me know.

The Christian Science Monitor is a daily international news organization and nonprofit media entity publishing news daily on the Internet in a web-first format, in a weekly magazine, and in a daily .pdf digest. It is read by many business and government leaders as well as a global audience. Many thanks for considering this.

Sincerely,

Hi - thanks for the request. You may use it for any purpose, provided it is shown as CC-BY-SA and attributed to me - if you use it on the web the easiest way is simply to link the photo back to the source on CommonsAn optimist on the run! 21:31, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
