ArbCom 2019 election voter message

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Regarding my recent edit to Microsoft Edge

Hi, I removed the animation from that article without giving a justifiable reason and I regret that. I was annoyed by the animation because it looks like a promotion from Microsoft. In fact, it is literally a promotion from Microsoft since it is used in Microsoft Edge's official websites: here and here. Also, the animation which is technically a GIF file was originally uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and was deleted today by an administrator there due to copyright violation with that administrator saying that the GIF was copied from Microsoft Edge's official website which is true: File:Edge new.gif.

Just because it is used in Microsoft's website doesn't mean it's promotional. It was a copyvio, so it was right to be removed, but you removed it because "NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR STUPID ANIMATION ABOUT HOW THE LOGO CHANGED." which isn't a valid reason as you mentioned, and is a bit harsh and un-encyclopedic. Rollback granted

Hi Merlin04. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

• Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
• Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
• Rollback should never be used to edit war.
• If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
• Use common sense.
