Please do not delete broken refs from articles like you did here and here, fix them instead by replacing the links with archived ones from Archive.org as I did on those pages. We have guidance on this subject at WP:DEADREF. - Ahunt (talk) 11:21, 9 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your userpage says that you are interested in removing dead links. And according your contributions, you actually did remove dead links from prodigious amount of articles. Please note that instead of removing a link to a dead article you should actually try to invoke an archived copy of that specific article. If you can't find an archived copy then you can simply tag it as a dead link, or replace it with a working link (a simple Google search would help you to find sources). We have {{dead link}} tag for a reason. Best, -- Chamith (talk) 13:13, 9 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cloud computing security, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hardware. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Ilokp

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ilokp, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   Hello Chenthil Vel, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Kumaran Institute Of Technology has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. MPS1992 (talk) 21:04, 30 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 22:59, 20 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Addition of irrelevant references

edit

Hi @Chenthil Vel: I noticed that in a lot of your edits you have been adding inline citations to pages which do not seem directly related to the sentence you add them to. Although these sites are somewhat related to the content of the article you add them to, they do not provide substantiation for any of the content in the articles in question. In addition these references link to commercial businesses, which makes me think they fall under the fifth item of WP:ELNO. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:

  • this edit on HP Deskjet: after the sentence "Today, HP sells various Deskjets. The current line of HP Deskjets include the HP Deskjet 1000/2000/3000, and all-in-ones like the 1050/1055/2050/3050/3050A/3510/3520." you added a citation linking to a-123hp.com. On this web page there is no information stating which HP Deskjets the current line includes, in fact there is no mention of these models. Instead this website offers commercial tech support.
  • this edit on Web application security: after the sentence "As a result, industry[4] is paying increased attention to the security of the web applications[5] themselves in addition to the security of the underlying computer network and operating systems." you added a citation linking to [1]. This website is once again a commercial site, this time for the cWatch a commercial website security product. This is again somewhat related to the topic at hand, but does in no way add additional information, especially not relevant to this specific sentence.

There are a lot more examples in your contribution history. I have gone back through your contribution history and removed all similar citations you added which I thought were not appropriate, please let me know if you disagree with any of them.

I would like to ask you to refrain from adding citations which are not directly relevant to the topic you add them too in the future. If you want to know more about what types of citations are appropriate for Wikipedia you can look at WP:REF and if you have any questions you can always ask me.

Thanks, Jchmrt (talk) 05:35, 15 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
