ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Kmhkmh. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. No offense, but such a message as well as the associated tagging are a bit off and somewhat counterproductive. Instead of a formalistic tagging seemingly based on "I can't see a footnote". I'd suggest to actually take a look at the text and sources of the rather short article. The paragraph on the history of the theorem pretty much explicitly describes in which source you find which content. The gain of artificially (and somewhat redundantly) turning that into footnote ia about zero, although admittingly it would have avoided a(n automated) posting such as the above one.--21:02, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

That was a seriously uncool move. You knew from my edit summaries that Draft:Braid (film) existed, and rather than do the right thing and work on the draft and move that into Mainspace, you "went around" process, and created Braid (Film) (which is, incidentally, at the wrong disambiguation title). The "right thing" to do is not wasting of your time in Wikipedia on bugging/impairing editors extending encyclopedic content. Acting otherwise is something i'd describe as "uncool".

Well you probably can remove the "echoing claims ..." part, but the text is properly sourced as far as I can see and I see absolutely no reason why we should have section about his opinion on Syria and Venezuela but not ukraine/Russia when Sachs was similarly outspoken on all of them. My concerns then were that you were addressing the dispute extremely casually, and not as if sanctions applied. Well for regular editing most people don't check RSP in fact i'd bet most editors aren't even aware of it (which probably holds for the discretionary sanctions list as well btw.). They just browse the most common policies at best and use common sense based on that. I think people working a lot in disputed areas often forget how far away the bureacracy around it might be from the other (average ?) editors. I probably looked at the RSN list less than 10 times in my 15 years of Wikipedia, usually in case when in a dispute over sources somebody was referencing it directly for his argument. Having looked at it again now, your are right it greenlighted VOA as a source in general, though my personal assessment is probably still a bit more skeptical than the note there. In any case it was/is somewhat obvious to me that in the given context (with Russia and the US the most likely suspects) an outlet directly owned by the suspected states aministrations is not a particular good source, in particular for a statement in biographical article of living person that can be read as derogatory.

I have to admit though that I did edit somewhat casually indeed. I just reacted to an edit on my appearing on my watchlist that looked at first glance unjustified to me. I wasn't aware of the hornet's nest any recent US politics associated articles have become (and the discretionary sanctions on it) otherwise I probably would have read the whole talk page carefully before editing rather than just fast browsing it.--Kmhkmh (talk) 18:23, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

Hafize Erkan Gaye

Permit me to draw your attention to the age ofHafize Gaye Erkan whose age has a level of dispute. I initiated the creation of her page prior her appointment as Turkey central bank Governor, I didn’t see anywhere her birthday or year was mentioned but I saw reliable sources who quoted her age, see references 20, 21, & 22.(I hope new citations don’t shift it). This actually dates her birth year to 1979 which I used but was undone by a user whose comment you will find on my talk page.

I will also like to bring to your notice that all publications citing 1982 were done after publication of her Turkish Wikipedia page. Unfortunate this English page hasn’t been reviewed yet and I felt good seeing her new employer putting up 1979, I felt like for once that my maths degree isn’t useless. Kindly do your findings.
