Otheruses edit

Hi, I'm not sure why you've inserted the template {{otheruses}} into some articles. It's just for articles when there's a bunch of other possible meanings at a disambiguation page. NickelShoe 04:51, 31 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Nivelles.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Sorry about George. It wasn't my intent to undo your correction, but I did anyway. Apologies. Zanaq 16:20, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please edit

Please stop removing the flags of Scoland and England and replacing them with the flag of the UK. I do not like it. Please do not do this ever again. Tharnton345 08:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry but I don't understand what edits you are thinking about. Could you please enlight me? J-C V (talk) 18:07, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

    • I've looked throught some other articles and it seems to be more common to use the UK flag even if there are exceptions. What we need above all is consistency. I personally feel that it's better to use the UK flag as England and Scotland are not independent states. J-C V (talk) 15:11, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
      • Don't change the thing on Aalborg. 82.26.186.30 (talk) 18:51, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
        • I've re-introduced the UK flags at the Aalborg article. I draw support from the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags). J-C V (talk) 23:17, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
          • Of course, one alternative would be to write for example "Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom" and keep the UK flag, as done on some other articles. J-C V (talk) 23:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
            • Most of them are by User:Breadandcheese, who changes the flags from England to UK, etc. 82.26.180.95 (talk) 09:01, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
                • Well, in actual fact most of them are altered by a small number of people without any justification. I edit in accordance with guidelines and the MOS - so if I come across anything incorrect, I will alter it. The guidelines are there for well documented and justified reasons. --Breadandcheese (talk) 00:02, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know who wrote them, it might have been him. But still, this is the Manual of Style and should be followed. J-C V (talk) 13:09, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

For the record, I very rarely if ever add flags of my own accord. I think they're rather pointless and create more problems than they solve. --Breadandcheese (talk) 01:07, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm beginning to feel the same thing. It's too often unclear what flag is correct and often users seem to use them for a kind of POV pushing. J-C V (talk) 17:50, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please see [1] and [2]: your Scottish flag campaign is only reaching a very limited audience. Mathsci (talk) 08:37, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is this post directed towards me or anyone else? J-C V (talk) 17:29, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see it more common to use this:(City), (Country). or (City), (Country) since (Year), as said on most articles. 78.144.37.110 (talk) 18:16, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I am following the guidelines by removing subnational flags and replacing them with UK flags on infoboxes on Football teams aricles. 78.150.198.165 (talk) 15:24, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikimania 2010 could be coming to Stockholm! edit

I'm leaving you a note as you may be interested in this opportunity.

People from all six Nordic Wiki-communities (sv, no, nn, fi, da and is) are coordinating a bid for Wikimania 2010 in Stockholm. I'm sending you a message to let you know that this is occurring, and over the next few months we're looking for community support to make sure this happens! See the bid page on meta and if you like such an idea, please sign the "supporters" list at the bottom. Tack (or takk), and have a wonderful day! Mike H. Fierce! 09:05, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I'll take a look at that. J-C V (talk) 01:31, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image:Trudeau, Turner, Chretien, and Pearson.jpg edit

Hi. I see that you added Image:Trudeau, Turner, Chretien, and Pearson.jpg to Prime Minister of Canada. As that is a copyrighted image, use of it in any article requires a WP:Non-free use rationale. Could you add one to justify why you think the use of the image on that page justifies Fair use of a copyright image or remove it from the article. A bot has already tagged it as problematic. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 18:57, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

All right I've done it now. I hope I did it in a correct way.
Regards J-C V (talk) 22:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Looks fine. I removed the Di-missing article links tag from the image. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 22:54, 2 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Napoleon III edit

Well, it wasn't original research. In The Rise & Fall of the Second Empire 1852-1871 by Alain Plessis, Louis-Napoleon is quoted as saying: 'What a government I have! The empress is a legitimist, Napoleon Jérôme a republican, Morny an Orleanist. I myself am a socialist. There are no Bonapartists except for Persigny, but he is insane.' I realize that he might be being facetious (and that he has a very skewed view of socialism), but he was also called the "socialist emperor" by many -- it's important to remember that there's no absolute definition. Yohan euan o4 (talk) 12:58, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, I'm no expert on Napoleon III. He might have called himself socialist and had some socialist policies. I just don't think that's enought to place him under the category French Socialists. HADRIANVS (talk) 14:39, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Something you should know... edit

Hello, HADRIANVS! A few weeks ago, you were tricked by my clever scheme. I, in all fairness, would like you to know that you were actually the first one. The three names above you were fake. Click here to see for yourself. --Muzekal Mike (talk) 18:23, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
