Belated reply: POLYMERS portal, ruins

Hello H Padleckas! I searched through the ruins of a legendary portal named polymers for anything alive, and found nothing but your question asked on February. I hope the following table provide the reply. Those listed are the participants of portal polymers.

Disclaimer: I have no intention to hurt or humiliate any one using this table. It is just provided to show the current status of the project and the truth that we need more recruitment.

Your idea is good. Also, what about welcoming the precious newcomers who edits pages of polymer portal? When this project has been alive, all of you have contributed to the polymers excellently. But now this project is inactive and certainly needs some help. If you are interested, we can bring this project to its success.Vanischenu mTalk 16:18, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Upon seeing your message, I searched for Portal:Polymers in the English Wikipedia, but I was unable to find one. A portal page in Wikipedia is used to welcome Wikipedia readers to a certain topic and help them find articles relevant or related to that main portal topic. A portal page has a few similarities to the Main Page of the English Wikipedia, but it is specialized towards the named topic. A portal page typically requires periodic updating, something we do not have the manpower to do at this time, so I suggest we do not create one for Polymers at this time.
However, there is a Wikipedia:WikiProject Polymers to which I belong, along with the other members you have listed here. Apparently, you must have been referring to WikiProject Polymers, which has been tagged as inactive. The purpose of a WikiProject is somewhat different than that of a portal in Wikipedia. A WikiProject is a page used as a forum and organization place where authors and editors contributing to the topic in question, in this case Polymers, can discuss how to write and edit articles on the topic, how to best present information on the topic in the articles, and to plan future work and keep track of progress in their work on the topic. Commonly, such a WikiProject develops a small stub logo and template to be placed at the bottom of stub articles on the topic, which are very short articles waiting to be expanded. I initially made the Polymers stub logo, which has been slightly modified since then; so that has been done. Also, a WikiProject commonly develops a banner to be placed at the tops of article Talk pages on the topic in question, whether the article is a stub or not. Such a banner evaluates the importance of the article to the topic in question and the overall quality of the article. WikiProject Polymers has not yet developed a template for such a banner.
Yes, it's unfortunate that practically little to nothing is currently being done in WikiProject Polymers. However, the fact that somebody put an inactive tag on the WikiProject Polymers page does not necessarily mean the WikiProject is in ruins, nor does it forbid or prevent anybody from doing anything. Any Wikipedia Users can still start or edit any article on any Polymer topic just as they would have before the inactive tag, and can still edit the WikiProject Polymers page or its Talk page just as they could have before, and any interested (hopefully knowledgeable) User can sign up to participate in WikiProject Polymers on its page. If you're interested, knowledgeable, and would like to work in Wikipedia:WikiProject Polymers, I suggest you consider adding your User name to the list as a participant on that page. For example, If you're good at making Wikipedia templates, you can try to make the WikiProject Polymers Banner as suggested on the Talk page. H Padleckas (talk) 01:58, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Sorry that I incorrectly referred to portal chemistry. Actually I intended to notify that WikiProject chemistry is not much active currently. At the same time, I recognize that this doesn't mean that the articles are not improving. But many important articles are stubs, till today. Take for example, the article synthetic polymers. If the project was very active, then we might have had these articles much improved.
Even the much popular polymers like PVC, polythene, Teflon etc. are all rated very low. If the project was alive, I suppose, atleast one of them would have been featured. I could not find any featured article from polymers. It is true that I mistook your proposal for a banner as a proposal for Wikipedia ad. (An ad to recruit editors to WProject polymers.) And I called portal instead of project. I should not have been irresponsible and shouldn't have made such a mistake form my part. (Here is the other one).Vanischenu mTalk 12:00, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
YesY Done and have messages for you at the projects talk page. Vanischenu mTalk 10:10, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you so much! We may have discussion about images for templates, requesting bots, inviting members, etc. Also, the tasks associated with banner shall be discussed in the project talk page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vanischenu (talkcontribs) 09:25, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Some bubble tea for you!

Bubble Tea.png I am amazed at your patience and determination in placing the banner of Polymers Wikiproject. Thank you! Vanischenu mTalk 04:24, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

You may assign me some work to improve the project, if you wish. I am really confused about what to do next.Vanischenu mTalk 04:31, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your offer of help. I left you a short message on Ionomers on your Talk page. Otherwise, it is midnight where I am at right now, and I must go to bed and sleep, since I have things to do tomorrow morning. Good night ! H Padleckas (talk) 05:04, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
A page for such categories is created. I think the current categorization needs to be modified. Also please tell me if there is any categories or particular pages where we should not place the banner. Shall we place Polymer banknote in one of the categories of Polymers? New watchlist to make things easy

Hello,
I am very glad to inform you that we have a new watchlist. I tried the toolserver-banner based one but the replication lag was half a million seconds! So, now we have a new Special:Recentchanges based watchlist to watch every article related to polymers. Here is the links. Almost all articles that come in the domain of polymers have been included. Let us together prevent vandalism and invite newcomers. All of our articles will become reliable. Thank you and happy editing VanischenumTalk 09:41, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Copyrighted material

Being the author of this image File:Metering pump head.PNG you might want to know that it is used on a commercial website: [1]. They don't mention you as the author. As you can see they even use the copyrighted wikipedia logo. The site belongs to [2]. I have mailed them, but a bit of help to tell them to clean up their act might help. There is an email address on that site for contacting them. --VanBurenen (talk) 08:34, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me about this website. I'll go look at this website further. H Padleckas (talk) 10:41, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Article alerts for Polymers

Seeing that two of our articles (Hemp plastic and Textilene) got deleted, and Talk:Flexible tanks‎ being AFDed and kept, I have subscribed Article_alerts for WP:WikiProject Polymers.

I think cleanup listing can also be helpful, but would like to ask you first whether we should apply for it. WikiProject Chemistry has already subscribed it, and it looks very useful. Shall we apply for it?···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 06:55, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

The banner placement will get completed before December···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 06:58, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

It seems as if it has the effect of creating one or more lists of articles that were tagged to have problems or need work, in which case it would be harmless and may even be useful. In that case, you might as well go ahead and apply for it. I think about 200 Wikipedia articles have WP:WikiProject Polymers banners on their Talk pages, so this WikiProject is much smaller than WP:WikiProject Chemistry, but that's alright; there is still plenty to work on and worry about. Thanks for alerting me to this possibility. Right now, I'm involved in Chemical engineering Templates in en:Wikipedia and Nuclear engineering in Citizendium; so I cannot immediately start work on this. H Padleckas (talk) 07:55, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I have asked it (here). I have also asked for the New Article notifications by TedderBot (here)···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 08:20, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

The banner placement has been completed. (list) Thank you···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 20:46, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Very good. Thank you for completing this. Right now I'm busy with family health problems, but we can stay in touch. H Padleckas (talk) 19:08, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
