Revert of my edit of Arte edit

Hi. Why the revert? It seems to me useful to have a list of Arte productions.--DadaNeem (talk) 19:37, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

At least at the German Wikipedia content that is not "free" should not be linked to in the Weblinks section, so as the IMDB page seemed mainly "pro" to me I thought it was a rather bad idea to link to it. If you know that the English Wikipedia usually links to this kind of IMDB entries please feel free to revert my revert (I'm sorry then). |FDMS 19:42, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello! There is a DR/N request you may have interest in. edit

This message is being sent to let you know of a discussion at the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute discussion you may have participated in. Content disputes can hold up article development and make editing difficult for editors. You are not required to participate, but you are both invited and encouraged to help find a resolution. The thread is "Nokia Lumia 1520". Please join us to help form a consensus. Thank you! EarwigBot operator / talk 15:29, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

DRN case closed edit

Hello, I am MrScorch6200, an assistant at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard. You recently filed the request or were a major party in the case titled "Nokia Lumia 1520". Unfortunately, the case had to be speedy-closed regardless of whether discussion began or not because there is no extensive talk page discussion as required by the noticeboard. When these issues have been addressed, you may refile the DRN request unless another noticeboard is more appropriate or otherwise directed. If you have questions please ask me on my talk page or the DRN talk page. Thank you! ----Regards, MrScorch6200 (talk · contribs) 20:43, 10 February 2014 (UTC) This message has been sent as a courtesy using a standardized template.Reply

Trams in Vienna edit

In answer to your question, a substantial portion of the readers of articles like this one are native English speakers who don't speak any other languages at all, and are planning a trip to the place the article is about. For people like that, it is often helpful to know, eg, that the German word for "tramway" is "Straßenbahn", and even that the German word for "Vienna" is "Wien". Regards, Bahnfrend (talk) 00:53, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply, although I do not agree with you (there is Wikivoyage for travelers) I accept your revert. |FDMS 16:28, 22 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

19th century edit

Hello, thank you for your interest in name information in the Slovenian articles (e.g., here). I added the phrase "in the 19th century" to most of them as a copy-paste addition; the sources cited may be 19th-century (e.g., Intelligenzblatt zur Laibacher Zeitung, 1849) but are also often 20th-century (e.g., Leksikon občin ..., 1909) and in general these standard German names are found in sources from the 18th century to the mid-20th century or even later. It was therefore my error to refer to them as "19th-century names" because this implies that they were not used in other centuries. This is why I have been changing the information to "in the past" or similar phrasing. Doremo (talk) 10:26, 17 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

  Done, thank you for your explanation. |FDMS 10:31, 17 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rollback userright granted edit

Hi FDMS4. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 06:38, 17 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

R service of ÖBB are not "hoaxes" edit

Hello, you recently reverted my edit on Wien Meidling railway station. ÖBB operates Regional (R) services around Vienna (and in other parts of Austria too). The numbers of the R services can be seen on VOR site map or on any map one buys in Vienna of the transport system. I am curious to know why you thought it was a "hoax". Thank you. (Central Data Bank (talk))

I said it was a potential hoax (because the article had no references), but I could now verify it is not. You will receive a more detailed reply tomorrow.    FDMS  4    18:59, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Central Data Bank: I've restored your version. However, I don't think creating articles for railway services like these Rs ÖBB never even uses itself and S-Bahn lines, instead, I would suggest creating articles for railway lines (like the German Wikipedia does): So maybe rather include the R500/900 information in Southern Railway (Austria) and rewrite the S45 (Vienna) article to Vortortelinie (de). Sorry for the delayed reply.    FDMS  4    06:55, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Concerning Tunceli province edit

In September 2013, the Turkish government revealed that they are working on a democratization package. This included the name change of Tunceli Province to Dersim Province. [1] In March this year, the Parliament adopted the same package. [2] --Ahmetyal (talk) 13:10, 8 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The second source also mentions that it is the same package, we are dealing with. --Ahmetyal (talk) 13:13, 8 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wow....just wow... edit

I note your "warning" here. I am very concerned that you would be issuing a "warning" to anyone about an edit made 10 months before. That's not appropriate at the best of times, and may well reignite a dispute that had long since been resolved. In fact, removing the comment from the page was all that was needed, and you had already done that quite appropriately. Please don't go about warning people for things that were done more than a day or so ago; it's very rare that it's appropriate after a longer period has passed. If you feel it is something that absolutely must be addressed, please write out your concern using your own words instead of relying on a template that usually does not adequately address the issue. I hope you'll consider this in the future. Thanks. Risker (talk) 22:04, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I didn't notice that the section has been added 10 months ago. I personally don't agree with WP:DTTR and think that as the edit was clearly disruptive its revert did not "deserve" a hand-written explanation. The "dropping warning" is just an autocomplete edit summary I use when leaving db or uw notes.    FDMS  4    22:17, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
It didn't deserve a template, either, certainly not months after the fact. Warnings are only appropriate to stop ongoing behaviour that is problematic, and there was no ongoing behaviour here. I'd suggest to you that it's probably not best practice to be using automated "click a tab" warnings in situations where you're not addressing an edit concurrent to its being posted (which was obvious in this case as there were newer sections on the page) and yes, I do think it's reasonable that editors be sure of when an edit was posted before giving any kind of warning in relation to it. It was obviously not a disruptive edit; it didn't affect any discussions on the page, nobody responded to it, and apparently nobody else who edited or read the page in the intervening 10 months thought it was problematic enough even to revert it. I have no issue with you choosing to revert it, just to be clear; it's a perfectly reasonable action, and anyone can revert an off-topic edit from any article talk page. Risker (talk) 22:37, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I shouldn't have made that edit to his talkpage and yes, I should have checked the section's creation date. However, it was not obvious that the section has been added more than a month ago (it was the fifth most recent edit to the talkpage when I checked its history), and I don't think it's inappropriate to leave uw notes about edits made, say, 29 days ago. In my eyes, the main purpose of uw templates is to inform users about certain policies and standards so a lack of policy knowledge is not a valid excuse for violating them again in the future. I did not use any tool or script to make the user talkpage edit ("click a tab"?).    FDMS  4    22:52, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I expect this over-zelous and ridiculously over-officious user has his sights on becoming an admin in the near future, well he's just blown that one well and truly. Giano (talk) 17:47, 16 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Not really no, I would still vote for FDM, it was one mistake made and he/she apologized for it. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 23:06, 18 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Apologies edit

Hi. I reverted your edit to Template:CC-notice and then self-reverted. Apologies for my quick trigger-finger there. There have been some discussions offwiki about CC-By-SA 4.0 and backwards compatibility, and I'm afraid that it primed me to misinterpret your edit as bringing that debate to the template. I'm sorry, and I'll be more careful in future! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:05, 15 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

No problem (but please use "undo" instead of copy-and-paste so the user whose change you revert gets a notification). I hope you like my most recent additions.    FDMS  4    12:57, 15 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 06:05, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Inn Valley Autobahn edit

Hi FDMS4, just to say that I added Verkehrstelematik in brackets because I wasn't 100% sure of the translation. That allows another editor to refine the translation if need be later. If you're sure my translation was right then fine, take it out. I often do this with obscure or technical words where the English terminology isn't clear. Gruß. --Bermicourt (talk) 08:09, 7 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Servus Bermicourt, thanks for the heads up. As an employee of a German company active in that field I can assure you that ITS is a perfectly valid translation of Verkehrstelematik (lit. traffic telematics, slightly less modern term for ITS).    FDMS  4    09:41, 8 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Question on Category:Commons category with page title different than on Wikidata edit

I agree on your revert https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ashland/63rd_station&diff=prev&oldid=796649146 on Ashland/63rd station but then (at least according to my understanding the Category:Commons category with page title different than on Wikidata is quite useless. Indeed after your revert the page Ashland/63rd station is listed in this maintenance category despite the fact that the underlying software will continue to display the correct link to commons in the article.

I hope I managed to formulate in an understandable way, best regards Robby (talk) 11:27, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Servus (bzw. Moin) Robby, I agree that the tracking category doesn't appear to be useful. @Anomalocaris: ⎇ + spacebar is the keyboard combo for nbsps on the default (British) macOS keyboard – not 100% about this, but when I created a custom keyboard layout on Windows a while ago, I think the Windows Keyboard Layout Creator let me define such a combo as well.
