Holocene calendar

The 1st year is year 0

Of course, there is no "0th year" (CE), since any 0th can not exist at all. Everything starts with the first, so there is the 1st year (ordinal), which is the year 0 (cardinal).

This is, because
the third millennium includes four-digit years with the first number is two: 3rd⇔2
the 21st century includes the years with the first two digits are 20: 21st⇔20
the 202nd decade (2010s) includes the years with the first three digits are 201: 202nd⇔201
...
the third decade (20s) includes the years with the first digits are 2: 3rd⇔2
the second decade (10s) includes the years with the first digits are 1: 2nd⇔1
the first decade⇔0s
...
the third year is the year 2
the second year is the year 1
the first year is the year 0

In addition, the first six months CE is marked as a decimal 0.5, that is zero whole (year) five tenths. (If the first year would be the year 1, the first six months should be marked strange incorrectly "1.5".)

The current year is 2016. 2015 years ago was the year 1, and the year before that was either 1 BCE or 0 (year). Either way, you don't see people referring to the year 2015 (2016th year), it's just the year number. Similarly, North Korea have decided that 1912 should be Juche 1 and not Juche 0, so they use the ordinal number and not the cardinal number as the year number. Patience games

Hi Arcorann, the original classification of patience games at Template:Patience is taken from David Parlett's The Penguin Book of Patience, as in fact is the classification system used in the template. So I'm wondering whether you've come across another source that places La Belle Lucie and Picture Gallery in a different category. By Parlett's definition, La Belle Lucie is not an open packer as not all the cards are visible at the start. Equally Picture Gallery starts with all cards visible, so it must be an open patience. The pictures given on the respective pages (File:La_Belle_Lucie_(solitaire)_Layout.jpg and File:Picture_Gallery_(solitaire)_Layout.jpg) don't match your descriptions of them. To be fair, Picture Gallery is missing some information in the text, but based on the pictures and the articles the categorisation seems obvious, unless we're talking about different games entirely. Sturgeon's law

In this edit you quote something with an incomprehensible element ("s f") to the reader who doesn't immediately have access to the source. Wikipedia is written for the reader, not the editor. Please explain it or remove it. Thank you. Sundayclose (talk) 15:53, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
