Worship and Festivals edit

Shiva is worshipped commonly in form of a Lingam (Linga). Women worship Shiva-lingas by Bilva (Bael) leaves, especially on Mondays, to get husbands of their choice. [1] The lingas are anointed with most frequently with raw milk and water. [2]

"Millions of devotees who pour water on the linga with great affection and veneration fail to associate the linga with anything erotic. Yet, most scholars and scriptures, Vedic or Tantrik, identify the linga as a representation of Shiva's manhood. The basin, they say , reprsents a yoni or womb of the Goddess." [3]
