I know a girl called Mia short for Amelia, and I know another Amelia called Millie for short. I like being Amanda pretty well ;), and my sister is Rosie (short for Roseanne, but could be short for any number of things). Having a name with a short and a long form is always good. • Isabelle (or the English spelling "Isabel"), Sophia (Greek for wisdom), Josephine, and Tessa are a names that I've always been partial to. One thing I would never use is Cassandra (I'm Greek Mythology superstitious). For something significantly more exotic I also like Nani, which is Hawaiian for "beautiful". • Best Wiki-poll ever! :) Personally, I like older names like Charlotte and Louisa; Frances and Laura are nice, too. For the middle name, I'm fond of Viola, Serena, Felicia and Joy. You and your wife also might want to wait until your daughter is born before deciding on a name for her, or even a few days after. It sometimes helps to get to know a baby before naming her; the three of you can go through a list of your favorite names and see which one "fits". • I'm partial to Jasmine, after coming across these small white blossoms on a hike over a decade ago. If you want it to be a bit different, the Arabic/Persian variant is Yasmin. Also, if you're not too attached to the idea of a given middle name, you could use your wife's maiden name as the child's middle name, though I've seen this result in some terribly awkward combinations in cultures which don't do this as a matter of course.
