PAUL MAYO (born 1949) BA(Hons), PGCE, FAPAI - Astrologer, lecturer, artist.
A trained artist (degree in art and art-history) and former high-school physics teacher, he gravitated to astrology after finding himself unable to settle into more ‘normal’ career paths (ref: featured in UK's The Times newspaper Apr 11th 1988 in an article about astrology as a career).
Not realising that college training was available to astrologers, as a young man he set about learning astrology the hard way – from books written in the 19th and early 20th centuries when user-friendliness was seemingly an unknown concept, obliging him to try everything out with real people to see if it worked.
He also qualified as a computer programmer (in the C programming language) and developed his own astrological program using C++.
Many local newspapers have written of his abilities as an astrologer, for example: Cotswold Standard (Feb 10th 1988); Malvern Gazette (June 3rd 1988); Worcester Evening News (May 18th 1989); Harrow Observer (Sep 13th 1990). In 1998 Hazel Courteney writing in the UK's Sunday Times Magazine also recommended him to her readers. Paul was BBC Hereford and Worcester's astrologer in 1989-1990, has lectured at the annual UK Astrological Association conference and contributed occasional articles to the Journal of the Astrological Association (example at Astrology-UK). He has taught astrology in many venues throughout the UK since 1984.
In 2005 he was elected a Fellow of the Association of Professional Astrologers International, an organisation dedicated to upholding professional and ethical standards amongst those who earn their living from astrology.
