Elliot Jay Stocks is an independent designer whose client list includes Wordpress, Blue Flavor, The Beatles, EMI Records, and Carsonified. He speaks regularly at web-design events around the globe such as Future of Web Design and the London Design Festival, and writes for various online and offline publications such as .Net Magazine.[2]

Education and career edit

Stocks obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Contemporary Media Practice from the University of Westminster and joined EMI as a web designer after graduation.[3] After two years with the company, he moved to Sanctuary Records before leaving to become the Senior Designer at Carsonified.[4]. Stocks left this position in April 2008 to pursue a full-time freelance career.[5]

Publication edit

In addition to his design work, Stocks writes for magazines such as .Net Magazine, Computer Arts, and Computer Arts Projects on a semi-regular basis.[6] His debut book, Sexy Web Design, was published by Sitepoint in March 2009).[7] Websites designed by Stocks have also been republished in magazines[8] and books such as The Web Designer's Idea Book[9]

Speaking edit

Stocks is an active public speaker and workshop teacher and has appeared on stage at various events, including Web Directions, South by Southwest, Oxford Geek Night, Twiist, and several Future of Web Designs. In 2009 he is due to appear at An Event Apart, the web design conference run by Jeffrey Zeldman and Eric Meyer.[10]
