Code redesign edit

(25 March 2009)

The coding for AssessorTags has received a major redesign, to cut out extra code. This should have no effect on the script's use, except that now if you add support for additional banners to your monobook.js page, they should be collapsed into {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} with other banners. (This is still untested, but assumed based on the code).

Is there an error? Please let me know!

UPDATE: This change also appears to increase the script's compatability with Internet Explorer. It still doesn't work, but the "wikiprojects" tab should now at least appear on the page. Thanks to User:Ezhiki for this information. –Drilnoth (TC) 14:56, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Simplification: A Step Forward edit

(29 March 2009)

I have just simplified the script's coding quite a bit more, removing some of the left-over "artifacts" from my original copying of the script from Friendly's tagging functionality. This shouldn't create any changes to how the script is used, except that browser compatibility may change slightly (I only test the script in Firefox 3). Please report any bugs that you encounter.

I believe that this update will make the script easier to modify in the future. Although there is some more yet to be done before the script's basic code is "finished," I think that this should be a good step towards adding additional functionality for modifying existing banners and for allowing you to assess class and importance using the script (both are high on my to-do list, but could take some time due to their complexity and my newness to scripting). –Drilnoth (TC) 21:37, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dang, well that didn't work. Something seems to have slipped through the cracks, and the script was adding banners to the shell template even when only one was selected. I hope to fix this in the near future, but have reverted my changes to the script for now. Sorry! –Drilnoth (TC) 22:00, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Namespaces edit

(2 April 2009)

I have removed the tab created by this script from the MediaWiki talk and user talk namespaces, as such pages don't generally need WikiProject banners (and because with all my scripts the user talk page tabs created a sideways scrollbar. Yikes! :) –Drilnoth (TC) 22:03, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Simplified edit

(8 April 2009)

I've re-done some of the less drastic simplification to the code, which I discussed above, having now ensured that the changes won't cause any errors. I hope to soon be able to modify the script so that existing banners are added to, rather than removed, when adding a redundant one, but I am unsure as to exactly when this will be possible. –Drilnoth (TC) 14:00, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
