GPM Global (GPM)[1] is a professional development organization which develops and delivers project management methodology, standards and training for individuals with a focus on sustainability. The organization is a Social Enterprise that consists of two partner organizations, a for-profit that develops and maintains methodology and standards for knowledge and a not for profit that provides governance and oversight for accreditation of individuals. The organization operates worldwide with offices in the USA and Australia with training programs offered through providers and Universities in 50 countries.
The GPM Project Management Methodology edit
PRiSM[2] is a process-based, structured project management methodology that introduces areas of sustainability and integrates them into four core project phases in order to maximize opportunities to improve sustainability and the use of finite resources.The PRiSM Flowchart. The methodology encompasses the management, control and organization of a project with consideration and emphasis beyond the standard project life-cycle and on the five aspects of sustainability, People, Planet, Profit, Process and Product. It derives the framework from ISO 21500, ISO 14001, ISO 26000, ISO 50001 and ISO 9001
PRiSM is also used to refer to the training program for practitioners of the methodology.
Certification edit
Launched in 2010, GPM Global's first certification was the GPM which is based on an assessment process modeled after GAPPS or Global PM Standards. Credential holders do not have to be members of GPM in order to be certified.
GPM has introduced two other certifications:
- Certified Green Project Management Associate (GPM-b)
- Master Green Project Manager (GPM-m)
Standards edit
GPM is a member of the American National Standards Institute and adheres to ISO 17024 for certification of professionals. According to their website, they developed the standard for Sustainable project management with The GPM Reference Guide to Sustainability in Project Management Version One (2013)
Differentiation edit
GPM as an organization cites the project management standards of ISO 21500 "Guidance on Project Management" and the International Competency Baseline of the International Project Management Association or IPMA. According to their website www.greenprojectmanagement.org, their focus is sustainability frameworks for project management. The organization is a member of the United Nations Global Compact and the Global Reporting Initiative.
