At various times, editors have contested the existence of standalone articles on film adaptations of comic book characters. I believe that these should be treated as a group, and therefore propose to have a single discussion to generally determine whether there is consensus in the community to allow this class of articles to exist.

Arguments for maintaining these as separate articles include:

The adaptations independently meet the WP:GNG, as there are substantial sources discussing them specifically.
Most film adaptations of comic book characters do not faithfully follow any given story line from the comics. Even films that attempt to do so must deviate from such story lines to accommodate the different medium, and in practice, characters depicted in the film are given a biography and character arc unique to the film.
Film characters, though based on a comic book, are fundamentally different in numerous ways, including potential discussions of no relevance to a comic book depiction of aspects such as:
- casting of the actor (or, in some cases, actors),
- the process of film development
- the actor's approach to portraying the character
- critical reviews of the performance and award nominations
- costuming and special effects used to render the character
