"Treacherous" is a country pop song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, taken from Red (2012). It is the third song on the album, and was written by Swift and Dan Wilson, and produced by Wilson. Treacherous will be the 6th. single by Taylor Swift Red.

Background

"Treacherous" was written by Swift and Wilson, who handled the production. It's heavily influenced by country and country pop. Swift has said of the song, in a "Stories behind the songs" interview: "Treacherous is a song I wrote with Dan Wilson, and I brought him this idea because I wanted to explore the idea that something could be dangerous and enticing at the same time, you know, put the positive side of that, like I believe this can work, you know. It's got this big bridge at the end of it that kinda sounds like a second chorus. It's got all these vocals in the background and it says "Nothing safe is worth the drive". And to me, that says so much about this album because I really do feel that if even if something really hurt you, if it made you feel something, it was worth it."[1]

Billboard gave the song a positive review, saying that the song had a "hushed, confessional beauty [in] the verses," though also noting that rising guitars and percussion at the end of the song broke the earlier tone.[2]About.com also gave the song a very positive review, giving the song a rating of four out of five stars.[3]Idolator praised Swift's vocals, saying that they were "rising to a threatening power."[4]
