Scope edit

Perhaps the template could be broadened to encompass rocket test sites too, apart from nuclear tests? Scoo 07:52, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

There's no reason it can't be used for any test site. Are there some specific fields you'd like to see added? Kirill Lokshin 12:38, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're certainly right in that it does not specifically exclude such :) Perhaps a generic "other tests/tests carried out" or similar could be added in addition to the three nuclear-related fields? I suppose it's very clear to the reader already from the name or type field what kind of site it is (á la Peenemünde rocket facility). With a generic field, proving grounds and such could have a short list of activities/programmes carried out. Scoo 13:38, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok, easy enough. I've added the other_tests field; is that sort of what you're looking for? Kirill Lokshin 17:01, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Looks good, but perhaps with blank fields (as in what the template produce) or without the divider/caption "Other tests" (as it may look silly if there are no other activities listed). Scoo 19:44, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Not quite sure what you mean; do you want the field label ("Other tests") or the colored bar above the field ("Other testing") removed? Kirill Lokshin 01:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
The dividing bar, but that's just me. On the other hand, rocket test sites and whatnot have probably been in use for so long that it would be difficult to single out or summarize the activities. So I suppose it's perfectly fine as it is. Scoo 03:51, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I've cleaned the code up a bit; it should look somewhat cleaner now when only the other tests are indicated. Kirill Lokshin 13:20, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
It would be nice if this worked with locationmap! Secretlondon (talk) 08:02, 19 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
If you can point me to an example of what you're looking for, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement here. Kirill [talk] [prof] 01:21, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Template:Location_map seems to be the standard for marking locations on maps. Template:Infobox military structure works with it, and ideally all the project infoboxes should really. Secretlondon (talk) 10:53, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Gabala_Radar_Station is an article which has a locationmap in infobox military structure. Secretlondon (talk) 10:55, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think this is actually the only other project template that would benefit from having a locationmap. Secretlondon (talk) 12:36, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
That seems easy enough to implement; I should have something ready for testing in the next few days. Kirill [talk] [prof] 01:49, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Did you ever manage to do anything? Secretlondon (talk) 00:14, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Potential merge with Template:Infobox military structure edit

Just a heads-up: there's a discussion regarding a potential merge of military site/facility/installation/etc. infobox templates taking place at WT:MILHIST#Expanding Infobox military structure template. Kirill [talk] 15:06, 26 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
