Quality of Article edit

WP:V Appears to be personal memoir. Needs better and verifiable sources. --Nagle 06:23, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Much better. Thanks. --Nagle 07:24, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

This page has POV problems. Sounds like a Yellow Deli ad, not to be taken lightly with its return to the Chattanooga area and reestablishment of business. Excellent sources of more in-depth info are easily available. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.202.123.127 (talk) 15:26, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

What links here edit

If you click on the "What links here" link to the left while you're in the article, the only substantive link to here is from the 12 tribes article. Added several categories so that others may find articles to link here. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:42, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unconstructive edits by Chezikah edit

Repeated links that are formatted incorrectly, most don't point to a website even when you reformat them, and most of the rest don't have anything to do with the Yellow Deli. Offered assistance on user's talk page.RevelationDirect (talk) 17:14, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Chezikah, here are the specific issues:

  • www.iottc.blogspot.com This is not formatted correctly, which is why it's a red link. Even if you go to the article, it talks about the 12 tribes but is not about the Deli. Others will critique that the source is a blog.
  • www.yattt.blogspot.com This is not formatted correctly, which is why it's a red link. Even if you go to the article, it talks about the 12 tribes but is not about the Deli. Others will critique that the source is a blog.
  • twelve tribes_ex.org Not only is this link not formatted correctly for Wikipedia, it's not even a valid website page.
  • [[1]] This is not formatted correctly, which is why it shows as a citation. Even if you go to the article, it talks about the 12 tribes but is not about the Deli.
  • www.twelvetribesteachings.com This is not formatted correctly, which is why it's a red link. Even if you go to the article, it talks about the 12 tribes but is not about the Deli. RevelationDirect (talk) 00:04, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Criticism edit

Text edit

The Yellow Deli has been criticized for being controlling of their own members. People who join their community are asked to give up all their possession including money and vehicles. Resistant to outside influence, community members are also asked to leave any respective schools they are enrolled in. Children aren't considered children of their parents, but of God and are raised by various people in the community under strict guidelines for punishment. Members also do not eat the food they server to the public. [1]

Accounts of the working conditions state that members work long hours, sometimes up to twenty hours a day. Outside newspapers, magazines and television are prohibited. Members aren't permitted to vote in government elections and children aren't allow to have toys, play games or participate in make-believe. [2] [3]

Discussion edit

An editor removed this material with the edit summary: "poorly sourced with mallicous intent".[2] Intent doesn't matter. The Sydney Morning Herald appears to be a fine source. The Chattanoogan looks a bit like a blog, and if it's a first-person account by a former follower the views should be attributed. There are other sources that discuss giving up possessions. However if this is just a facility run by Twelve Tribes then all we need here is a short summary of their beliefs or the controveries. The bigger question is whether to merge this into the Twelve Tribes article.   Will Beback  talk  19:55, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The bigger issue here is that the article directly quotes websites that have been deemed not up to wikistandard, i am in the process of restructuring this whole twelve tribes mess. This article is advertisement plain and simple there is nothing original, I am not opposed to criticism of the group i am oppoesed to people using poorly soucred statments. this whole edit war thing is getting riduclous, the three sides have any number of articles that say Cult/salvation/misunderstood outsiders. personally i suggest deletion of this article entirley. Weaponbb7 (talk) 20:39, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure what makes The Sydney Morning Herald a website that's been "deemed not up to wikistandard". But it's a moot point if we agree on merging this into Twelve Tribes.   Will Beback  talk  21:00, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

No its the website the Morning Herald is perfectly fine, the article quotes a Twelve Tribes Ex and Yatt Blogspot both have been rejected as not up to wikistandard as sources. but i agree its moot, this is so poorly written i dont know why it has not been booted sooner Weaponbb7 (talk) 03:58, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Chattanoogan isn't just a blog, it's a fully legitimate news source in Chattanooga. Thousands of people read it each day. It's well established and is respected in this city, same as The Pulse, The Chattanooga Times-Freepress and Chattarati. The Sydney Harold is equally valid. A response to criticism section is needed and I do have sources for that (mostly published by the Yellow Deli). Give me time and I'll incorporate and fully source them to. --Sumdog (talk) 16:23, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Chattanoogan link appears to go to a blog-like entry, and if it's used it should be noted that it is written by a former follower. However the bigger question is about merging this article into the parent topic. I've tagged both articles. See Talk:Twelve_Tribes_(New_religious_movement)#Yellow_Deli_merger for that discussion.   Will Beback  talk  18:38, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Chattanoogan may appear to be a blog, but it's a news site. The line between news site and blog can become blured at times I know, but saying the Chattanooga is a blog is like saying the Chattanooga Times Free Press is a Blog. It's a news paper, which features several 'blog' sections for each editor. In that same context, CNN is filled with blogs as well. Also, what makes Yatt Blogspot "rejected as not up to wikistandards as a source." Please link to the explicit standard and state why. If there is contradictory evidences against his statements, add that to the article and source it. I'm reverting this page to the previous with my properly referenced sources. --68.53.211.2 (talk) 13:17, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

End Of The Deli edit

This article refers to the deli in the past tense, but no refernece is made to when or how the deli closed, if in fact it did. 66.31.76.221 (talk) 15:21, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Criticism edit

OK, here is the discussion User:Weaponbb7 should have started instead of once again deleting the whole section without discussion:

There is another restaurant article on P. J. Clarke's which is owned by George Steinbrenner. Now clearly, criticism of Steinbrenner's management of the Yankees would be inappropriate in that article because the owner is not really relavant. We can't present such a bright line here because the owner uses this restaurant as a recruiting tool and they directly staff it. Still, who cares how they raise their kids; is there a daycare on site or are they using child labor? Does giving up all money mean they don't keep their tips? Not eating the same food they server and working long hours are both on point, but how is not voting related to the restaurant? I'm in favor of limiting critism to critiques that apply specifically to the Yellow Deli rather than the 12 Tribes in general. If we really can't distinguish, that's one more reason to merge this article (which I favor).RevelationDirect (talk) 23:40, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
