Talk:Volgograd Tractor Plant

"The steel structure was manufactured in new York by the McClintic Marshall Products company, and then shipped to Stalingrad for field Assembly. The huge flow of cargo went first by water via the Atlantic ocean, the Mediterranean and Black sea, then along the Volga" ... I read this and checked the source. It looks like this is verbatim from the source... Anybody looked at a map? the Volga ends in the Caspian Sea, not the Black Sea. To get to Volgograd from the Black Sea, the equipment would have been floated up the Don, not the Volga. --Bitgrazer (talk) 04:12, 23 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Expand Russian template edit

@Buckshot06: Hi, you added the {{Expand Russian}} template in Dec 2015. I have been doing some work on this article, trying to expand using information found in sources picked up from the Russian article as well as new ones that I've found myself. Although I started off using the Russian article for guidance, I'm now working on the English article just using the source material. I do have more work to do, and some additional sources up my sleeve, but won't be relying on any translated text from the Russian version. Therefore, would it be OK to remove the expand template now? Or maybe replace it with something more appropriate? Thanks, Rodney Baggins (talk) 13:30, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

If there's useful data in the Russian article which hasn't been added to the English article, the tag should remain. But you're the most vitally interested, you get to decide the meaning of "useful" :) Buckshot06 (talk) 13:33, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll leave it there for now, until the article is a bit more complete. At least it will remind me to keep referring to the Russian article to make sure I don't miss out anything important. But as I'm not relying on purely translated material, I won't be putting a {{translated page}} template on the Talk page, if that's OK. Rodney Baggins (talk) 15:57, 21 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Buckshot06: Hello again, do you know where we stand with images? There are a couple in the Russian article that I'd quite like to use but I'm not sure about licensing. The images are held centrally on Wiki Media for free & fair use on all wikis but the image details state that you must provide file attribution, i.e. "You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made." How would I go about doing that? Rodney Baggins (talk) 08:00, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
If they're on Wikicommons, they must have all the appropriate details listed there. Just copy them over. I'm no copyright expert nor Commons expert, Moonriddengirl is your lady. Buckshot06 (talk) 10:45, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I asked at the teahouse and they said it's fine to use them. Rodney Baggins (talk) 07:07, 23 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
