This entry was created from the text that was originally a section in the Demographics of Hong Kong entry. It didn't make sense to be a section in that entry. But this entry needs expansion so any help is appreciated. Hong Qi Gong 17:59, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

A good fit for this page would be under the page for Boat People. --Shop talk (talk) 02:47, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

1980 arrivals

According to HK Government sources, the influx of Vietnamese refugees reached its peak in 1979, when over 68 700 arrived. So barring errors or omissions in the government article, it is therefore unlikely that 100 000 arrived the next year. Can anyone offer any sources to categorically substantiate or negate this claim? Help with the closing date of Sham Shui Po camp

I've read the source provided on the article that backs up the claim that Sham Shui Po camp closed in 1981. But I also found two sources dated 1989 that referred to the camp as if it was still open at the time.[1][2] Can anyone help with verifying the closure date of this camp? I spent a few minutes searching on HK's government website but couldn't find anything to verify it. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 16:39, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Article may contain CCP propaganda

I noticed that a CCP source may have been used. I say this because I seriously doubt the claim in the article that the Viet Cong has ever intentionally engaged in ethnic cleansing; it seems to have been made up by the CCP. Any comments? David873 (talk) 02:21, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

My balanced view of vietnamese in HK

Ok, so I have removed the link to FB - and updated the article without the link, so why is my contrib being deleted. This article needs to have a balanced view of the small but growing minority of vietnamese people in HK who are not from the refugee generation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.79.210.112 (talk) 16:10, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Where is the discussion? Nothing I have stated in controversial.

I would like to balance the one sided balanced view of Vietnamese in HK, why would you think its bias or controversial?

Please contribute to this discussion constructively rather than making edits.

I am vietnamese and I live in HK, is that enough evidence to accept as a source? 219.79.210.112 (talk) 17:36, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

This line is subjective and unqualified: "Many of the Vietnamese people in Hong Kong immigrated as a result of the war and persecution in Vietnam since the mid-1970s." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.79.210.112 (talk) 15:40, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

CaliforniaAliBaba - what makes you the authority on Vietnamese in HK? What is wrong with my last edit? Can you please have a rational discussion about this rather than threatening? How should I satisfy you that today, HK has a vibrant vietnamese expat community that is contributing to the local economy. This article needs a balanced view as all it says is that vietnamese in HK are refugees. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.73.57.186 (talk) 15:41, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
