I would like to know what the comparison between v90 and v92 is= speed differences, etc.

V.90 is 56Kbit/s downstream and 33.6Kbit/s upstream. V.92 is the same downstream and 48Kbit/s upstream. Zerbey 21:46, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone know if a V.92 modem connecting to another V.92 modem (not an ISP's service) will yield a connection of 48Kbit/sec.? The last time I dealt with modems, they would only connect at 33.6Kbit/sec. to each other and no more.

I expect it would be the same way, you wouldn't get the PCM speed unless one end of the connection was digital. Phr (talk) 06:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC):is this a cable only modemWeatherlawyer (talk) 10:43, 15 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Real world use? edit

Was this ever deployed, widely or at all? I was working at a dialup ISP at the time and DSL was already coming in, we never saw any hardware that claimed to do V.92 let alone end-to-end availability. (I know USR and Cisco did some.) - David Gerard (talk) 09:58, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
