Requested move 9 June 2018 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus is this is not the primary topic. This should stay as a hatnote at The Week. (closed by non-admin page mover) Bradv 03:37, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

– The Week published by Malayala Manorama is the first magazine among those currently published to be named as such. There by the order of precedence the article should be titled as The Week as opposed to the other namesake magazine Bengalurumaga (talk) 17:15, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Which came first chronologically is usually not a criterion in deciding on a primary topic; the question is which topic are the majority of readers likely to be searching for and expect to find under a particular title. In this case, page views indicate most readers probably want the British magazine. The Indian magazine is clearly the second-most sought topic, though, and is substantial enough that it should be mentioned directly in the hatnote, in addition to the dab page. • Oppose As Station1 wrote, our naming convention is based on what the primary topic is, not who has had the name longest. Also, "British magazine" is an inappropriate disambiguator for a magazine that originated in the U.K., published an Australian edition, and whose U.S. edition has a higher circulation than the original. If the consensus is to move the articles, "International magazine" might be a more appropriate disambiguator. — MShabazz Talk/Stalk 01:17, 10 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose "The Week" should be a disambiguation page. Replace that to The Week (disambiguation) -- 67.70.33.54 (talk) 06:05, 10 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Neutral. I'd like to hear some rejoinder to the two opinions just above. What is the circulation of each? BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 04:48, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • According to the articles' infoboxes, Indian magazine: 204,429. British magazine: 206,251. U.S. magazine: 578,163. Only the latter two figures have sources. — MShabazz Talk/Stalk 19:38, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support #2 only - no primary topic Red Slash 12:22, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose both. The British & US The Week receives over 71% of the page views and has a much higher circulation than the Indian magazine, suggesting it's the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. That the Indian magazine is older isn't relevant to determining primary topic status.--Cúchullain t/c 20:06, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose first, neutral on second and creation of dab In ictu oculi (talk) 09:05, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
