Sequel

There seems to be some debate as to whether Below Zero is a sequel, or just a "standalone expansion" or the like. I am using the source https://www.inverse.com/gaming/subnautica-below-zero-preview-developer-interview, which is an interview with Unknown World Entertainment, the developers behind Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero. This source directly quotes Project Lead David Kalina as saying, "They’re built on the Ultima 6 foundation and it’s basically the same tech and gameplay mechanics, but a whole new world. So we started by deleting the old world and starting from scratch. Our ambition was pretty big and we didn’t have a clear read on how big it was. So at this point, it’s a sequel. It’s a whole new world, new story, new creatures.” This source is from February 8th, 2021, a little over a month before Below Zero released. It seems clear from this source that while UWE didn't originally consider it a sequel, later on in development they did do to the increasing scope of it.
