Talk:State Plane Coordinate System

Comment edit

I tried to find a map of the US showing the state plane zones, but did not have the time to find a nice one that clearly was available to use here (copyright-wise). I'm sure there are some out there. If someone knows of one let me know or add it! I'll do it if I have more time and inspiration later... Pfly 03:32, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Where can I find the math? edit

I am trying to write code to deal with this thing. Does anyone know where to find the equations?

Grid vs. Ground Discussion edit

I was doing a little research of my own on grid vs. ground coordinates and found some good information that should be added to this wiki for State Plane. Here is a link to some standard equations for grid coordinates and grid factors that are important to understand for geoids.

State Plane for Michigan edit

Before I make a change to the article, I would like to discuss. It is my understanding that the entire state of Michigan uses the Lambert Conformal projection. Only the Alaska panhandle uses the Oblique Mercator projection. There is a "Lake Projection" that uses Oblique Mercator, but no states.

Thoughts?
