Birth name edit

IMDB indicates he began using his birth name in film again in 2001.--Dakota ~ ° 02:35, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Missing image edit

There seems to be missing an image of the actor at the top of the page. Siiverei 17:16, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reiko Chiba edit

According to Wikipedia Japan, his daughter is not Reiko Chiba. His daughter is Julie Manase. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.8.238.12 (talk) 09:14, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm removing the reference to Reiko Chiba until someone can provide a source. Hill of Beans 21:58, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

sonny chiba - ninjutsu edit

Does anyone know what is meant here by "Ninjutsu"? Is the author talking about Bujinkan Taijutsu or Genbukan or what? Or could Mr Chiba be guilty of talking up his history? 220.233.180.191 07:17, 2 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is not possible to have a fourth degree black belt in Ninjutsu...ninjustu does not exist in that way as a martial art. I deleted this. Dwslassls —Preceding undated comment added 01:29, 15 November 2011 (UTC).Reply

Toyota Sunny-S edit

I'm unfamiliar with a Toyota Sunny - is there a possibility that perhaps this should be Nissan/Datsun? Nissan/Datsun have produced a series of cars under the "Sunny" since the 1960's and I would think it unlikely for Toyota to use the same title.

Filmography edit

I added a link to Ogon Batto, but there must be somebody out there capable of adding the other 60+ films ;^) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.215.115.31 (talk) 18:41, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

More External links needed edit

I have noticed this article is lacking in external links. Also the current external links needed to be updated and slightly corrected; which I have done for the most part. I will look for better external links to add to this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tokyogaijin (talkcontribs) 19:46, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Misleading edit

Sonny Chiba is awesome, but in Kill Bill it was his great acting, not martial skills, that were of acclaim. This is confusing in the opening statement, because indeed Sonny Chiba was one of the first popular martial artists in cinema (although the 2nd reference claims he surpassed Bruce Lee? probably excusable as the reference is nationally partial to Mr. Chiba) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.139.8.210 (talk) 19:14, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wife's name edit

Uh is this guy's wife's name "General woman?" Because that's what it says right now... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.163.13.114 (talk) 00:09, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Birth date discrepancy edit

Can anyone verify that Chiba-san's listed birth date is correct? The majority of sources I've come across (Rotten Tomatoes, DirecTV, Famous Birthdays, KungFuKingdom, to name a few) seem to indicate that his birthday is in fact January 23. Only an Apple+TV profile and this Wiki article seem to cite it as January 22. His official website is currently down. Zargabaath (talk) 23:26, 22 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

January 22 is also listed on his Japanese Wikipedia page and all of these Japanese sites: https://eiga.com/person/47510/, http://promide.com/page.php?s=628, https://talent.thetv.jp/person/0000002628/, http://www.astraia.tv/Chiba.html, https://www.oricon.co.jp/prof/228634/profile/Chanbara (talk) 13:38, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Among the above, Astraia is the production company with which Mr. Chiba has contracted. The profile on Astraia website is therefore taken as official as his website as individual in my opinion, besides third party ones like Oricon or TheTV. --Aphaia (talk) 13:39, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Death Cause edit

According to NHK and Kyodo, Chiba passed away due to pneumonia from Covid-19, so his office announced.

English source (The Japan Times):

He was 82. Following his infection with the novel coronavirus in late July, Chiba initially stayed at home but was hospitalized in Chiba Prefecture near the capital on Aug. 8 and received an oxygen supply. The actor had not been vaccinated, the agency said.
