      Solly sounds like a nickname. Is it his formal name?Lestrade (talk) 17:49, 12 February 2010 (UTC)Lestrade

      It seems to be his proper name, it's how he's listed in the London Gazette for his honours, and that almost invariably uses full legal name (you sometimes see actors listed under their stage name whe they receive honours, but that's slightly different). I can't see the major journal of the Royal Society using a nickname in the title of an obit either. David Underdown (talk) 19:16, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
