No longer supports architectures claimed in article

The article claims support for PowerPC, SPARC and ARM. Current mirrors of SL only show i386 and x86_64, with a mention of IA64 in an earlier major release. Should the rest be deleted from the panel or marked "(obsolete)"? Gareth.randall (talk) 13:49, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Packages

Would someone like to list a few major points as to what separates this from other distributions? i.e., what is missing that is commonly around, or what has been added that the sci community would like that regular distributions don't find appealing enough to add. For instance, I was wondering if this had Root pre-installed (it better).

About the ROOT, it's not included in SL. But, you can download binary ROOT for SL in ROOT web page. Ysyoon (talk) 08:42, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Differences with RHEL

The diff between SL and RHEL are lited in the Release Note For instance lastRelease Note (4.4) is ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/44/i386/SL.releasenote

It is not clear from the article how this distribution differs. Why not just use RHEL or CentOS? Pgr94 (talk) 23:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Problems with website security certificate

https://scientificlinux.org/ had a certificate which was issued by their own CA, or a CA provided by CERN, Fermilab or another research institution, and these root certificates are not always included with browsers. This isn't always a problem, and is more indicative that these institutions answer to a Government hierarchy which they control, not to Joedaddy Certificate Authority. CentOS decline and rise in SL popularity

Due to the delays in CentOS 5.6, 6 and various security updates- there are a number of people migrating to SL from CentOS. Is this front-page worthy and sourceable from forum posts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.16.61.8 (talk) 22:57, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
