Naming edit

Following Pseudois's "consistency" favor, I moved this page to Xigaze:

  • Following WP:NC-CHN#Place names, Xigazê is one of the cities used as example of "places without a well-established English name and have competing names from transliterations of pinyin vs. ethnic minority languages". It current says: "Shigatse but not Rikaze", due to the fallacy of not engaging Xigaze in the search. When all three engaged, there're 415 Xigaze results but only 24 Shigatse results, and only 2 Rikaze results. So when account "use the name preferred by Xinhua or similarly authoritative organs", we use Xigaze as the name of the article. ––虞海 (Yú Hǎi) 09:05, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I don't think we should refer to the Chinese naming conventions at all when Wikipedia already has the more specific Tibetan naming conventions.—Greg Pandatshang (talk) 03:47, 31 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress edit

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Lhasa which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 22:44, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
