Result sources edit

There are a lot of results missing from this page; is there anywhere we can borrow them from? Dunc_Harris| 22:54, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

They can all be found at a number of locations such as [1] or [2] it is simply that there have not been enough peole contributing to these pages and those of that there are have done bloody wonders already I think. Fell free to help and join in.Scraggy4 23:21, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, no way was I denigrading the efforts of others. Just a matter-of-fact comment. I'll try and put some in. Dunc_Harris| 12:13, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

All results here (oddly, apart from the 2X) Dunc_Harris| 22:19, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Medal Tables edit

I suspect I'm being very dumb here, but I can't figure out how to adjust the medals table and list of medalists- the Ukraine have lost the bronze for the women's quadruple sculls after one rower failed a drugs test, so Australia now have that bronze. Average Earthman 10:37, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, that was me. I moved it into a templaet to try to reduce the size of the page, what I'm planning to do is move all the results to subpages, as is done in the athletics. see template:Rowing at the 2004 Summer Olympics:medal table
Ah, that explains it. OK, I've updated them now. Average Earthman 11:53, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Split to multiple pages? edit

This page of results is very large and seems to have a lot of different styles of results and some missing results. My suggestion is that every event is split onto a separate page and then some kind of template is followed so all the pages look the same.

Looking through the other olympic sports they all seem to use a similar design with countries flags. (examples in Swimming and Athletics).

We could so something like:

  1.   Great Britain (Steve Williams, James Cracknell, Ed Coode, Matthew Pinsent) 6:20.85 Semi A

I'm happy to do the work - just want to make sure no one is against me doing this. Johnteslade 21:43, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, go for it. I was going to do it, and I may yet help! Dunc_Harris| 21:59, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Formatting edit

I have just updated Rowing at the 2004 Summer Olympics - Men's double sculls to conform to the standard style we are trying to converge upon for all Olympic sports, not just rowing. The key thing is to use templates such as {{flagIOC}}, {{flagIOCmedalist}}, and {{flagIOCathlete}} to render nation flags in a consistent way, and to create links to the appropriate "Nation at the 2004 Summer Olympics" article instead of to the article for the nation itself. I still think there are some potential improvements that I did not implement here yet. For example, lining up all the times in each race makes the results much easier to read, but requires some table formatting. Check out Canoeing at the 2004 Summer Olympics - Men's C-1 500 metres for an example of how this is done. Andrwsc 17:59, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
