CaroleHenson, I randomly had a look at Rowe Street Baptist Church. Do you know why it is on Template:Boston African American community pre-Civil War? The article doesn't mention African Americans. According to Clotel it was white only in around 1853. "Such are the conditions upon which the Rowe Street Baptist Church, Boston, disposes of its seats. The writer of this is able to put that whole congregation, minister and all, to flight, by merely putting his coloured face in." TSventon (talk) 22:20, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

I have no idea. I poked around until I found an editorial about the church pew-deed requirements for "respectable white persons" and added that to the article. Removed the template. CaroleHenson, I notice the article was written in 2013 when there was probably less information available online. The passage in the Liberator was a letter to Mr Garrison, its editor, containing a letter to the editor of the Congregationalist, so I have adjusted the article accordingly. CaroleHenson, I think the African-American connection was Thomas Dalton (abolitionist), but he can't have been married at the Rowe Street Baptist Church by Rev Baron Stow in 1834 as the church was only built in 1846–1847. I think that the Clarendon Street Baptist Church is probably more notable, partly due to Adoniram Judson Gordon, would it make sense to move the Rowe Street article, or start a new one? CaroleHenson, I have drafted an article about the three buildings at Draft:Clarendon Street Baptist Church, any comments? Hopefully I have avoided British English . It still needs the coordinates for Clarendon Street. The architect for Clarendon Street seems to be Thayer, even though it is listed on his partner's article, Abel C. Martin.
