Talk:Rob Malda

I added a well-cited paragraph edit

I added a well-cited paragraph on his creation of slashdot and its subsequent sale to Andover, along with his current status. Not much to get this article out of stubland. By means of disclosure, I'm a co-worker at SourceForge Inc -- oostendo 16:19, 23 Jan 2008 (UTC)

Is it really fair to redirect Kathleen Fent to this article? I mean, she is a separate person, and I'm sure she's done SOMETHING in her life that's interesting aside from marrying Rob Malda. It just seems vaguely sexist to me. -- Skyfaller 18:59, 2004 Dec 28 (UTC)

I don't think it is vaguely sexist. However, why is there a Kathleen Fent article in the first place that is re-directing to her husband. There shouldn't be a Kathleen Fent article because she is not as notable as Rob Malda. --Anonymous Cow 20:41, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Who is this Rob Malda you keep on talking about? --220.233.48.200 18:12, 30 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Kathleen Fent is publicly known because of Rob Malda. Simple as that. I added a link to her own website from this page to be fair.

This URL should somehow be linked to from this node: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/8.04/slashdot.html

I'm not gonna edit anything, in fear of l33tist corrections..

Yes, that was an admirable troll attempt. But that aside, Kathleen Fent's article would be all of "the person that the founder of slashdot proposed to online," which is NN as heck. Better to have anyone typing in "Kathleen Fent" in the search box be directed to Malda page then "Your search found no results." -Chewbacca 07:41, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

Is he really notable enough to have his own article? Theshibboleth 08:53, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think so. He is quite well known in technology circles (at least Slashdot-centered ones). Here is an article about him in Time [1] meshach 18:09, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Needs cite edit

I removed the following unsourced information...

In 1997, Rob Malda was scheduled to interview for a job with Red Hat. Malda flew to Raleigh-Durham International Airport where, upon landing, he was to call Red Hat and have them pick him up. However Malda forgot to bring his Palm Pilot, so he did not have the phone number. He then sat in the airport all day, returning to Holland, Michigan that afternoon. He never went to the interview.

If anyone cares to cite this info from a reliable source, you are welcome to do so. Also, consider whether it is part of a well-written encyclopedic biography, or just an amusing anecdote. Wickethewok 21:34, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

"On Valentine's Day of 2002, Malda proposed to Kathleen Fent and she said yes."

This line just doesn't sound quite right, perhaps it could be reworded? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kakalto (talkcontribs) 13:59, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kathleen Fent edit

she is only known because of who she married, therefore not interesting as a "seperate" person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.191.193.12 (talk) 04:50, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
