Fake information edit
below information on religions is misleading and this is a fake information. "Hinduism was the major religion practiced on the island prior to the introduction of Buddhism" There are no proves available on this point. The earliest surviving chronicles from the island, the Dipavansa and the Mahavansa, say that tribes of Yakkhas (demon worshippers), Nagas (cobra worshippers) and Devas (god worshippers) inhabited the island in 6th century BC.

- @Lankeshwara: I did not add this content in the first place. I only reverted you because you removed the content twice (1, 2) without providing an edit summary. I do not know if its true or not but I will look into it and get back to you. However, your belief that it is "fake" because of what Mahavamsa, Dipavamsa and History of Sri Lanka say doesn't comply with Wikipedia content policy. We rely on reliable sources to back up content and neither Mahavamsa nor Dipavamsa are reliable, they are historical texts based on myths. Wikipedia articles are also not reliable - see WP:WINARS. Mahavamsa and Dipavamsa are chronicle books which written whole Sri Lankan history not myths. But belief that Hinduism existed in Sri Lanka prior to Buddhism has no reliable source. It's a myth. Data World-Asia (talk) 13:34, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- Ancient (and not so ancient) chronicles often contain a great deal of fiction. Also I note that both the Mahavamas and the Dipavamsa were written several hundred years after the supposed events. However a claim that Hinduism was there before Buddhism also requires support (beginning with what were the boundaries Hinduism over 2 thousand years ago); I note no such claim in the current article. --Erp (talk) 23:50, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
