implosion? edit

The Aladdin was imploded and rebuilt, reopening around the year 2000, I think. There's no mention of this on the page. I don't know the exact dates... --ScottJ 00:36, 20 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

It's mentioned on the Aladdin page (more reason to merge the two articles to avoid such confusion, see below). SpikeJones 22:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Aladdin, Las Vegas edit

Someone suggested this. I see a lot of problems with doing this merge. The main problem is that with the number of changes happening and the fact that the hotel and casino will actually have different owners, keeping all of this in one article could make the situation more confusing. Given that the Aladdin is a landmark and a very well know casino name, it probably is worth leaving two articles. Leave the current article as a snapshot of the landmark name. • This article should be merged with the Aladdin article. It is no different from the Bally's article talking about the previous MGM years (or as a better example, of what the Bally's article would become if Harrah's decides to rebrand it as the Horseshoe). Once the name change occurs, then rename the page and redirect visitors from the original article to the new one. Different owners? Not an issue. Number of changes? Didn't affect Caesar's continued growth. If Aladdin was imploded and rebuilt as Planet Hollywood, that would be one thing. But different owners and a name change (with the same building)? Well... The primary owner(ship), from what I understand has an 85% share. There you go, only one article needed.Barrel-rider 05:44, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Split Aladdin and Planet Hollywood edit

This article is too confusing with both hotels here. The film history is confusing on which hotel was in the movies. Also, there are many hotels that are split up into two articles. Binions Horseshoe and Binions Gambling Hall and Saloon are two articles. Also, Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino and Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon are two articles. Having two well known casinos under the same article creates confusion. The bally and MGM article appear to be uncommon as far as being combined. It would probably be worth considering splitting those as well. The history of the Aladdin and it being demolished and a new one built should constitute an article on it's own. Also, the Aladdin lamp was seen as such a landmark it was preserved and restored and put on display in downtown with the neon museum.

Also, the casino info box is misleading. It gives previous names for a hotel that was demolished. I think making an article for The Alddin (the demolished, no longer existent) hotel and building would be a good idea. At the end of that article have one paragraph about the New Aladdin and give a link to (Main article) Planet Hollywood. On the Planet Hollywood article start with the New Aladdin and then proceed to the renaming of it to Planet Hollywood. The article currently also states renovated in 1998. The building was imploded in 1998. The article as it stands covers three hotels and two entirely different buildings. Also, the Bally and MGM article mentioned above back in 2007 has been split. There is no precedent to keep these combined. All other similiar articles support splitting them. --BoldSolitude (talk) 03:45, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I like that proposal. The article does look a little clustered. Suggest placing a customized {{split}} tag first? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:26, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't I recently expanded this article and am working on changing stuff like this to minimize confusion.--SchnitzelMannGreek. 21:58, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Elara Vandaization edit

Through confusion or outright vandalization to improve search scores, 60.225.100.179 changed the name of the resort in the opening paragraph to 'Elara'. This is factually incorrect as Elara soley refers to the separately-owned former PH Westgate property (now controlled by Resort Finance Associates/Centerbridge Partners); under Caesars Entertainment ownership the former Aladdin has retained the Planet Hollywood brand and its operation as a hotel-casino, not a timeshare.

'Elara' as a timeshare, creates a situation where its sales associates may have strong motivation to vandalize the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood page to increase search scores.

60.225.100.179 or another contributor should reverse and resist the confusing changes made 1 December 2012. The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino (which, as the successor to the early Vegas-gaming business Aladdin, is of historical significance) and the Hilton-branded 'Elara' timeshare property which as of this writing share nothing but physical proximity; the latter does not warrant its own page and is essentially irrelevant to the subject of the Aladdin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.39.218.228 (talk) 21:43, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Opening date edit

I was wondering what opening date we should put for the resort/casino. Shouldn't it be April 2007 since the Planet Hollywood, the reason people clicked on the article, opened during that time. Why put 1963, by the way, considering that date refers to a totally different casino that doesn't use the same structure, the Tally-Ho? By that logic, should Mandalay Bay's Wiki page read an opening date of 1956 since it stands on the old Hacienda site?

Thanks! Katemorganishere (talk) 18:35, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

The building that is now the Planet Hollywood was originally constructed from 1998 to 2000. Why don't we just go by the date when the PH originally opened as the "New" Aladdin (August 18, 2000) rather than the date it merely changed its name from Aladdin to PH (April 17, 2007)? I already changed it in the infobox yesterday. By this logic, the article for the building now known as Westgate Las Vegas, which was constructed from 1967 to 1969, has the date when it was originally opened (July 2, 1969, as the International Hotel) in the infobox rather than the date when it got its current branding (2014), or when it was renamed the Las Vegas Hilton in 1971, for that matter. Agreed that 2000 is more correct as an opening date than 2007. The real problem is that this article needs to be split, between the old Aladdin and the new Aladdin/PH. It's quite confusing to cover both in one article (and especially in one infobox). Toohool (talk) 17:52, 2 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
I also agree about this article needing to be split. I don't know why such a split hasn't been done already. It's probably easy to just spin-off the info for the old Aladdin resort into a separate article.Jim856796 (talk) 06:50, 10 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Caesar's Controls South East Strip edit

Looks like from Harrah's to E Harmon Ave is controlled by Ceasear's currently. Article has a source from 2009 that is no no longer working which would have been outdated anyway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8802:2102:A300:F802:D335:84BB:9280 (talk) 18:15, 7 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
