Hi. Consider the original contribution of this article [1] by 152.163.252.194 (talk · contribs), an AOL IP. This is a long text with a few wikilinks at the beginning. Could this be a copyright violation? Or is it more likely a gradeschool paper? I have tried googling for text sequences in it, but I was unable to find it. Comments? Just letting you know that I'm the author of that text, I write through an IP only and it is authentic. I wrote it for school originally. Hi, thanks for the comment. However, we have no way of verifying that you are the same person that originally contributed that text. You're now coming from the networks of a school district, and not AOL. Also, how can we verify that it was original work? Suggestions? I created an account so now I'm known as Florin55 but I prefer writing articles anonymously. Anyway, I'll continue to contribute mostly through translation.

Break up the article?

I suggest we distribute reliable biographical info to the various bio articles (several could be made in addition to the ones already linked to). The remainder could be tightened considerably, bringing it into encyclopedic form. Whogue 04:04, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

photos?

Fake photo, or staged? It was a genuine dead body of a sniper. The body was not photographed where it fell. Alexander Gardner is thus in the forefront of a new movement in American journalistic photography: telling the story not as it was, but as it should have been. Name me one studio photographer who hasn't embellished or retouched his work over time, or one network television cameraman who hasn't coached his subject. Since Gardner was more interested in sales than in preserving history, staging several photographs is perfectly in keeping with his business context. "Fake," IMHO, is too harsh a word. Tone it down. Page title

The page title Photography and photographers of the American Civil War is unnecessarily long and almost reads like a legal brief, not like a title to a chapter of history. This article covers primarily the subject of 'Photographers'. It is understood that there will be 'photography' associated with these particular people. As it is the page title implies that 'photography' is as prominent a subject as 'Photographers' is, and it clearly is not. The photographer, the 'person', placed in the Civil War, is what is being covered, foremost, and the page title should reflect that. Therefore I would like to change ('move') the page name to Photographers of the American Civil War. I would normally wait for a reply but I see the last two edits were made almost a month ago, before that, July, by some user with no identity, and because the page is not looked after very well and has numerous citation tags that have been there since January of 2010. I am familiar with this subject and have already written about some of the topics mentioned here. Providing credible source and citations for this page should not be difficult. The page has an abundance of external links, however none of them are cited in the body of the page text. GWillHickers (talk) 20:13, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
