This Olympiodorus, from the original Encyclopaedia Brittanica article from 1911, is NOT the astrologer Olympiodorus. There were TWO Olympiodoruses. The astrologer (and I believe he was the neo-Platonist philosopher as well) lived a century later. We have a clear record that he gave a series of lectures in Alexandria in the summer of 564, by which time this Olympiodorus was long dead. Therefore all astrological references to this gentleman need to be removed (for all I know he WAS an alchemist; I have no idea.) A different article is needed on the later Olympiodorus, who was an astrologer and whose "Commentary" on Paulus Alexandrinus has been preserved. He was an early Byzantine, who lived after the fall of Rome.
