Storage capacity edit
Is it really necessary to mention maximum supported storage capacity of memory cards? I don’t think it means anything for users, because they can use memory cards of an appropriate type with any available storage capacities. It’s just a marketing policy of manufacturers to specify it. - Handsets frequently need updates to support the latest, largest memory card sizes - updates that don't always appear. It is worth mentioning that a specific handset will support up to a certain size of memory card, since the memory card support is part of the feature-set and functionality. I'm not sure how it could be a 'marketing ploy'. The 'marketing ploy' is that non-Nokia memory cards aren't supported, so if anything goes weird you won't get any help. - Well, it's quite simple. Vendors really never say that users should use memory cards from assigned manufacturer; instead they used to say that maximum capacity of a supported memory card is strangely equal to the maximum storage capacity of memory cards from this very vendor… [1] - it seems that this phone support cards with capacity up to… 64MB… When it comes to smartphones the capacity of cards doesn’t matter at all since the use of sophisticated operating system, that can recognize any card of appropriate type… Dreambringer 11:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- You're incorrect. Not all handsets magically support every possible size of memory card. There were, for example, software updates required for several Nokia handsets to use 2GB cards. Oh, and if you look on the accessory compatibility page, it shows compatibility up to 1GB. That page is more reliable than the specs page, which tends to never get updated. Beyond that, you're just talking about your personal POV regarding handset manufacturers and not wanting to act in a neutral manner where the presented handset specifications are presented with no commentary. - You're incorrect. Smartphones do not magically gain the ability to address any size of memory. If you believe otherwise, please present some sort of reference. Regardless, the supported memory card size is worth noting as it is part of the specification of the handset. This isn't a sales guide, avoiding confusing buyers isn't the goal of wikipedia. Due to "I've edited the article to just say 'microSD card' and not list any capacity. It's not wikipedia's place to inform buyers or anything like that - since this is an issue under debate, I think it's best to just avoid it entirely in the encyclopedia. People looking for other users' experience with the N95 can go to forums, discussion boards, and review sites. Download/Upload speed edit
