District name edit

The name of the district is actually pronounced as Maulavi Bazar, rather than the two words joined together. If the word Bazar is used then it will always be on its own, like for example; Cox's Bazar. Mohsin (talk) 14:56, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

District name 2 edit

It doesn't matter how you pronounce a name. The official name of the district is Moulvibazar. So, the title of the topic should be Moulvibazar. [1] 180.234.87.220 (talk) 02:31, 4 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

– To remove unofficial name and unnecessary disambiguation. The government website indicate clearly the official name at least here. Samudrakula (talk) 21:09, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • This is quite a confusing matter. I don't accept that there is an official government spelling, because as the citations on the page indicate, various government documents use different spelling. The spelling used by Banglapedia should be very relevant to what wikipedia aims to achieve, and I'd suggest that it should be followed. In fact, the new edition has changed from using the spelling "Maulvi Bazar" to "Maulvibazar", and I would support making a page move to follow that. Banglapedia is still using the spelling Maulvibazar Sadar Upazila, so I would prefer to see that remain as is. We all are very familiar with the fluidity of "o" and "a" in transliterations from Bangla to English, and if the redirects are all in place, then I don't see a problem. (However, a very large number of alternative spellings need to be added as redirects before that ideal state is reached.)
Incidentally, Banglapedia also has a page on Moulavibazar, a market in Dhaka, and it would be good to have that disambiguated here. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 19:27, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
WP:NOR is relevant here, and is why I suggest following Banglapedia. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 16:06, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ok then we can follow Banglapedia and go with this: Maulvibazar DistrictMaulvibazar Sadar UpazilaMaulvibazar. Samudrakula (talk) 18:07, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Strange move edit

The move to Moulvibazar District is not in accord with the result of the above discussion, which suggested that it would be better to move to Maulvibazar District. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 19:02, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Moulvibazar District edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Moulvibazar District's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 13:43, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
