Somebody should move this into a section called "MesOpotamian Campaign". Don't capitalize the first O. I know it sounds like an Ā but it's O. If somebody types in the proper spelling, they won't get anything. I'm to new so please, somebody do it.

The First Year - The Siege of Kut

Who is this "old Ottoman general, Tukrat Muvasha"? Could it be the old German general Colmar Freiherr von der Goltz, who is mentioned in other sources relating to this campaign as well as his own Wikipedia page? The facts about this general , e.g. laying siege, dying of typhus, do match up. Alandeus (talk) 08:50, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Campaign Box

I was looking at the campaign box, and noticed, I think that it needs to be changed a little. Shouldn't 1st Kut and Es Sinn be the same? When IEF D captured Kut, there was no real battle there, the battle was Battle of Es Sinn. 1st Kut in the box takes you to the Siege of Kut (which, if we're to follow the logic would be the 2nd Battle of Kut?). The 2nd Battle of Kut is fine, but the box skips the Battle of Sanniyat on 22 April 1916, tho it includes the relatively minor engagement of Umm al Tabat (a rear guard action in 1915 after Ctesiphon)? Can the Sanniyat be added in, as it is important as the victory there sealed the fate of the Kut garrison?--HistorianBell 06:34, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

quality issues

The quality of this article needs attention throughout. First, the style is halting and contains basic linguistic errors (such as omitted articles): it needs to be polished. Second, there is no political sense in it (why did the British invade? was it not because the Indian government wanted to get the credit for some victories in the war before it was too late?), and there is a general lack of historical perspective. Third, it violates Wikipedia principles by using US rather than UK spelling for a UK activity. No time to do this now. Deipnosophista (talk) 14:18, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Edited out the intro

I have edited the introduction phrase " the troops were mainly drawn from India and Australia" ,they were mainly drawn from India but Australia's role here was marginal and mostly confined to aircraft .Charles Townshend's epic book on the subject When God Made Hell not once mentions any Australian ground troop involvementBullseye30 (talk) 20:00, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Oil pipeline

The article states as follows "The oil pipeline to transport the Persian petroleum ran alongside the Karun River into the Shatt al-Arab waterway," Assuming that the pipeline does not literally empty out into the water can anyone explain what into the waterway means.
