Translation / Terminology

Are You sure that the term major archbishop is correct and it doesn't be Grand Archbishop???

As this biographical sketch of Cardinal Husar from the Holy See Press Office lists his title as "Major Archbishop of Kyiv-Halyč", it would seem the official English translation as used in the article is correct. Gentgeen 20:47, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Also, the Latin word "maior" is a comparative, so if you wanted to quibble with the translation, the alternative would have to be something like "Greater" rather than a simple "Grand." But actual usage makes it quite clear that the only correct translation of this title in English is Major Archbishop. LacrimosaDiesIlla (talk) 14:49, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Before 1963, the highest title available to the head of an Eastern Catholic Church which did not have its own Patriarch was Metropolitan Archbishop. This was in fact the title of heads of the UGCC prior to 1963. LacrimosaDiesIlla (talk) 14:47, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
