Cinema

There's something wrong with this history as the theatre was definitely converted to a cinema at some time. Can't give you the exact dates, but I worked for a company (Century 21) that had its offices in the rear part - I believe the dressing and property rooms etc. As I worked there from August of 67 to May of 68 you'll have to revise your history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.225.123.72 (talk) 07:39, 8 February 2007‎

Challenged infobox updates

I am opening this topic as there are edits being made to the infobox (e.g., [4], [5], [6], [7]) that have been challenged by two editors and reverted, but the editor(s) making the changes continue to restore them despite warnings placed on the corresponding talk pages. I invited all interested editors (including those advocating for or against them) to offer their opinions on whether any of the proposed changes improve the infobox. Removing 'closed' parameter from infobox

I don't think it's correct to have a 'closed' parameter in the infobox for this venue. Like thousands of other performing arts venues around the world, it was not open during the pandemic, this is true. But I can't find a 'closed' parameter set for any of these (see Metropolitan Opera House, Sydney Opera House, Old Vic). Also, if we're going to note the fact that it closed during the pandemic in the infobox, why not also note that it was closed during the Second World War, when it was used as an army canteen? I just don't think there's any reason to have it how it is.

I fully agree. The Covid closure can be mentioned very briefly in the text but certainly not in the infobox. Kleon3 (talk) 21:30, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

I removed it. You're absolutely correct. Temporary COVID shutdowns are non-defining. If it was permanently closed because of it, that would be notable, but temporary closures were as common as anything. oknazevad (talk) 21:51, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
